There were native American slaves. And alot of them married Irishmen
There were also native Americans who had slaves, black, white, Mexican or other native American tribes.

Only 1.7% of the population of the US is Native American today, including Alaska natives. Far fewer were slave owners than Europeans. Native Americans were also taken to the Caribbean as slaves.

Such a great topic Strawberrylova123 - Thanks for posting.

Like I said, "Racism"!

Just because their society is different from ours, it doesn't make them any less civilized!

"Civilization" means human development/culture.

That's a bullshit term. Just because the shit is in Encyclopedia Brittanica, it doesn't make it right. Even Brittanica acknowledges that the term civilized tribe is not an official name.

For historical purposes the native Americans that owned slaves and had adapted to white society were called the five civilized tribe's whether you like it or not, was it racist?? Of course it was, but it happened and that was what they were referred.

I will listen to the family's detail of their history, should they wish to share with us and display their documentation. I read through here simply to look for such verification.

This is all interesting; however, in the end, when all is said and done, whatever his ancestral mix, Prince was a proud Black man. And, his immediate family proudly self-identified as African Americans. That is all. Carry on.

You're right - it really does! I wonder if he had seen this pic before posing for that album cover, or if it's just a kind of spiritual 'harkening back' and simple family resemblance...

That photo is incredible, it is like she is looking right through you. If she is related to Prince, it is obvious to see where Prince got that stare from.
