I agree - it is a commercial enterprise now. I see Michael Jackson slot machines at a local casino. Any wonder how long it will take for Prince machines to show up? I still think the family should lay him to rest outside of PP - in a private space never to be revealed. Very much like what was done with Freddie Mercury's remains.

after hearing his oakland concert, i wondered if he wanted to be left in PP, he told the crowd to come see him at PP but not in the wintertime. Maybe it meant nothing but it was kind of an unusual request that came across as a statement made in jest but given what followed, who knows?

That was before any streaming deals were worked out. I hope this alcohol deal is a one off just due to the Super Bowl. But where does it end? If they serve food at these Super Bowl events will they serve meat? Paisley Park is in your heart

This request is just for the week of the Super Bowl. We still don’t know if it’s been approved though I suspect it will be because the city will want the Super Bowl business. However, if the city frowned on selling alcohol at Paisley in the past I don’t see why they would change their mind now. I highly doubt lack of alcohol is impacting tours. Maybe the dance parties but even there I doubt that they’d get that many more people to come out if they sold alcohol. When Prince threw PPAD events people still showed up even though there was no alcohol and no guarantee he would perform. Paisley Park is in your heart

Remember, PP wasn't even even an approved public facility until just before the museum opened. Y'all forgot THAT? . ALSO forget the fantasy that he didn't drink. He liked fine wines and champagne. He and Andre had split a bottle of champagne after a 3rdeyegirl performance. https://www.billboard.com...emembrance . Doesn't ANYONE read interviews? My guess is people aren’t combing through interviews looking for references of Prince drinking. Anyway when Prince invited NABJ convention attendees to Paisley Park in 2015 no alcohol was served. http://www.latimes.com/en...story.html As far as we know Prince never attempted to obtain a liquor license and musicians like Adrian Crutchfield mention sneaking alcohol in because Prince didn’t allow it. A former assistant, Mariah Brown, says he didn’t drink. I believe she worked for him from 2013-2015. http://minnesota.cbslocal...assistant/ It’s probably safe to say there wasn’t a lot of alcohol around at Paisley Park, at least the past 10 years or so. Still if they want a temporary permit to offer it once a year during the Super Bowl I don’t think it’s the end of the world. Paisley Park is in your heart

Of course he didn't allow alcohol during working hours -- and an interview session IS work. Social drinking is something else. Welcome to "the org", laytonian… come bathe with me.

Well the NABJ invitation specifically mentioned no alcohol (along with no cameras or cell phones) so if that event was considered “work” would he even need to mention no alcohol on the invite? Obviously none of this matters now. PP applied for the temporary permit and I suspect the city will approve it as they’ll want the Super Bowl business. But I won’t be surprised if some people show up at the city council meeting to protest. They stream those meetings live so I’ll have to tune in as I have no plans to be there in person. 🙂 Paisley Park is in your heart

from what i've heard, of course he drank, he was hardly a problem drinker if what i've read is any indication. He was known to get "tipsy" even while recording, supposedly he was drinking wine during the recording of "How Come U Don't Call me Anymore". And just this morning I was listening to the new Eric Leeds interviews where he said Prince couldn't drink a lot without getting drunk and that he was drunk during a Madhouse recording session along with Sheila E. He'd been known to drink, the only time where it might have caused any issue was during the Slave era where he had to be rushed to the hospital to have his stomach pumped. During later years, he probably abstained but i wouldn't know, I believe the JW's prohibit drinking but I'm not sure.

also, whatever his feeling about drinking was, his concerts sold beer and so forth. it's hard to go against the current like that, i remember my mentor, owned a store, sold all kinds of liquor even though he knew what it did to people, i used to have trouble putting it together in my mind but he was a capitalist.

Ian Boxhill also said he had a fantastic wine collection.

Nearly every JW I knew used to drink.

Thats the point...
Im a low key drinker..If someone asks me if I drink, I say yes,
I will have one or two glasses max..I love wines Liquers, all kinds of things but I havent been drunk since I was 21...
I can relate ..
Prince was a good host, he would have had a variety of wines and special drinks along side the captian crunch to offer his guests...

Prince was a good host, he would have had a variety of wines and special drinks along side the captian crunch to offer his guests... Seems some things are being conflated here. Maybe because some fans incorrectly claimed on social media that Prince never drank which obviously isn’t true. To me that’s separate from whether Paisley Park should host public events that serve alcohol. Seems to me the latter is what (some) fans are objecting to. I’ve changed my initial opinion on it mostly because I think PP would be crazy not to take advantage of the Super Bowl being in Minneapolis. If they can host some A-list parties and make decent $$ to help with the cost of running the place and keeping the doors open then I think they should do it - so long as it’s just for special events like this. I agree that if he had alcohol on the premises and drank sometimes himself, doing so on very rare occasions at PP would be okay today. As an aside, I do know that he liked his girls not to drink. 🙂💜

No idea, but I do wonder why Sharon's Q&A and the poll for the next release are not a sticky anymore. I was really looking forward to Part 3.
