I had heard this story before about the song being inspired by Lisa's car. Yet the story that Mi-Ling Stone Poole tells about her role as the inspiration for the song is quite convincing as well. I believe her, and I certainly believe Lisa too. It's probably reasonable to conclude that Prince drew from more than one personal experience when he crafted the song. The same is probably true for a great deal of his work.

Such a great, great song it is. I'm one of those million people who learned of Prince via LRC. That was the beginning for me. I must have watched the music video a thousand times back then. Thank God for MTV and VH1!!
