The tour started in April 1987 and then if your read Cat's words on why he did the SOTT movie, might finish clear it up. . #1 Sign o the Times the movie ~ 1987 http://prince.org/msg/7/447838 . . But I also think he was moved on for some reason. There was a good amount of studio work after the tour was over and doing some music for others

I find that I like him singing in that lower register though. I do love the released because it is the full song, love the high hat and Sheila's additional voice

Me too. I think overall the released longer version seems to have captured many of the sounds of that era, with the horns and the Black Album vibe as well.

RJOrion said: besides of course the album, my favorite thing about that era, is the Amazing Cat Glover...her face (eyes), and non-stop dance energy, had me sprung...she always looked like she was having the time of her life onstage... her facial expressions seemed like that of a fan who was seeing Prince for the very first time...i can watch the SOTT movie over and over, and it NEVER gets old... Oh lawd she was SO FINE back then!

"That was something I was writing, just a stupid little thing. See, I have six cats. It was about a cat up in a tree teasing a dog. I was actually being sarcastic. He said, 'Ya, that could be a song,' and I was like 'Oh ya, like what do you want me to sing? La La La, He He He – I love you, you love me? That's how talented I am?' He said, 'Actually, that'd be kind of cute! Go ahead and write it.' I don't really write any more as I'm out of the game now, but back then, that was my thing. Then, all my songs were little stories. I liked storytelling songs. He used to think they were amusing. I don't think other people did but he used to think they were." Sheena Easton

I remember being in the grocery store with me ma and older brother and I had $5 of his in my pocket. While flipping through a magazine that had Prince's name on it, I saw that picture. Nothing else, but that picture and a little article. And I spent his money to get it and add to my collection.

Prince sorta began and ended the SOTT era on a weird note.
It was after this and the pulling of the Black album, that I felt back then, that this wasn't going to last too long.
There was only 1 realized video which was U Got the Look, the academic conesuir of all things Purple that I was, I never knew a video for SOTT existed.

It´s Gonna Be A Beautiful Night
Composed by Prince, Doctor Fink & Eric Leeds. The basetrack to the song was recorded at the Prince & The Revolution concert of August 25th, 1986 in Paris. Through (a lot of) overdubs the jam evolved into It’s Gonna Be A Beautiful Night, the longest song on the album, clocking in at 9 minutes.
The song has a very strong live-vibe and two of the most recurring motifs, which were incorporated in songs during the fantastic Parade tour, are present in this song. The song ends with Confusion!, after which the band creates a whirlwind one last time. Not intended as a farewell to The Revolution, but well worthy of it." Life Matters
