Prince music licensed in new films

The best scene in the new Kingsman movie is a fight scene with LET'S GO CRAZY in the background. It's the radio edit from the PR soundtrack, not a remake by a cheaper source.
Good job estate! Get the music out there to intrigue a new audience. This would have been big $$$$ for the estate, too.

I saw Kingsman: The Golden Circle last night and it was a great surprise to see hear his music getting such prominence in the film.

.

I couldn't help feeling he wouldn't have allowed it himself though! confused

He allowed the TV show Scandel to use Controversy before he passed and there was a banner ad on the bottom of the NPG Publishing Website for contacting his company for licensing arrangements. Prince was very much going into the licensing business before he passed.

No way he would've allowed his music to be used for a fight scene in a hyper-violent movie like Kingsman. Poor form

Scandal used his music in a sex scence stop being silly. He approved the use of the song. This is how publishing companies make money by licensing out the music. He was his own admin for that reason.

The website for NPG publishing said at the bottom. Contact us for information on licensing. What exactly do you think that means?

NPG Publising was open for business in 2014. So I am not talking about years ago.

Totally correct.
.
They likely paid over $300,000 to use such a prominant song BY THE ORIGINAL ARTIST.

He would not have authorized the licensing of this song in the Kingsman, far too violent. Doing so was a move by those currently in control who know nothing about Prince and who do not care or respect the opinions of the heirs. Be on the lookout for more undiscriminating license approvals. mad

Stop being a voice for SNJ and Lonnie. The publishing company was created to make money from the publishing since they gave the control over to UMG they need to at least earn their kept by actually licening the music.

This is exactly what Prince was going to do. I guess it would be better if everything gets sold off in a tax sale because no income is coming into the estate.

The estate does not have Prince's touring revenue anymore so money has to come in some sort of way. The estate can get $300,000 t0 $400,000.00 for licensing songs in movies. Doing this might re place some of the lost tour revenue. All of the money is not going to come from his music.

Some sibs are salty because the money is not going into their pocket right now and thank you Jesus a court is looking out for things right now. Or someone would be driving down the street in an Aston Martin and selling the publishing.

Then he should have left rules. He did not.
Also, we know he regularly watched TV and movies that were at least PG-13. Ride Along 2 in January 2016, rated PG-13 for sex and VIOLENCE.
KINGSMAN was only rated one level higher.
He was not the prude you try to portray.

LR,stop your pontificating as if you are an authority in the know about what his intent on publishing was or about what is actually going on. All that gibberish about lost tour revenue and mouthpiece. You are amusing. I reiterate, it's no secret he would not have licensed his music for that scene in the film. He was a BIG fan of 'The Matrix' - which has the same classification (at least in the UK) as Kingsman (15).

--Unless you can communicate with him from the grave you have no idea what he would have wanted and if he was concerned about his music being used in certain films he would have left a will or trust saying what to do. Unless you know the whereabouts of these documents you need to go have a seat after you report back to SNJ.
May comments about lost revenue are only gibberish if Orince is coming back from the dead to go on tour. Since that will not be happening how do propose the estate replace that revenue? Because it sure in hell is not going to be from John's music or from a Prince cover band.

I sure hope that SNJ is not looking to you for estate advice because they could do better with the Tom and Jerry law firm. Now go back to the studio and fix some sound on John's recordings.

Of course, but the film ratings can include both, as they did in that case.
I used the word prudish on purpose, because that's what SNJ are trying to portray P as. He was randy to the end

Lol, you are a regular Phyliss Diller, you got jokes! Come on now, I thought you were really the ultra fan that knew him better than that. Prince licensing Let's Go Crazy in a movie with guns a popping and people getting shot up, you mean to tell me you really think he would have authorized that? But I always thought that it would be good if more people have access to his music (new fans).
Only hope they dont associate his music with garbage movies (not talking about this one, dont know it).

You have no why of knowing what he would have been okay with and I recall "Give Em What They Love" with Janelle Monae was in the Equalizer and extremely violent film.

If you can answer the questions below then do so if not step off.

1) Why do you think he set up NPG Publishing? To not make money with the publishing?

2) You or I have no idea what he would have wanted and if he cared he would have made a will and stated that he did not want the songs in violent movies. They concern about what types of films these songs are placed in his a moot point since no directions were left and I do not think it was something he was worried about as long as the music not being used to promote drugs which was something he spoke about.

3) What looney toon that you are associated with has a problem with a cool $300,000.00 dollars that is badly needed to pay off estate taxes and other expenses (legal) as quickly as possible. Will team SNJ be going out on tour to generate those sorts of dollars? Once bills are paid and taxes taken care of the estate could be more picky about were the songs go but until then revenue needs to come in.

4) If heirs have issues with this money they can always donate it to charity when they get their disbursements.

Nasty Girl by Vanity 6 is in the film Beverley Hills Cop but is not on the soundtrack. Wouldn't it be great if the soundtrack was re-issued and included Nasty Girl?! As 4 the new Kingsman film, the first one was crap so I am not interested in seeing it.

I find the whole talk about "Prince wouldn't have allowed this or that" to be quite pointless.

In most instances, Prince would have had no issue licensing a song......... for the right price.

If you listen to my interview with Angie Marchese from Paisley Park, Prince owned every single James Bond movie. So a movie like Kingsman is hardly a stretch.

Hmm let's look at the movies he licenced his music for in his lifetime

Girl 6

Happy Feet

Batman

Showgirls

See anything hyper violent in there? I suppose a penguin could give you a nasty nip
