lavie said: This is so tacky. I actually like Jason Tenner as an impersonator. Saw his tribute show several times and he's been doing it for over 20 years. P never shut his show down and we all know he could have. But let's get real, there's a big difference between a tribute and actually trying to replace/replicate someone and to me, this venture of Omarr's is feeling very much like an ATTEMPT at the latter. Also feels like a feeble attempt at a money grab with the assumption that Prince fans will just buy anything affilated with Prince and that is just not true. This ultimately will not be successful. What did Omarr do for a living before his half-brother died? If they put out good original music I would buy it. Nothing wrong with musicians making music but anything that looks like just a Prince cover band is wrong wrong wrong. That’s why I’ve never been to see Chase & Ovation. Prince cover bands don’t interest me in the least. Paisley Park is in your heart

Go to a doctor and get an exam that could be a serious condition. I would like it if they used Paisley for established artists and maybe chose new artists from a battle of bands. i hate this. SOOOOOO MUCH. nobody wants this shit. it's pure exploitation. i'm also sick of people talking this "this is what Prince wanted/would've wanted". STFU

I don't have a problem with musicians making music either, however, in The Current article, Omarr specifically said they will be puting out "a new album of Prince covers by musicians from the NPG" That don't sound too original to me! Have U had your + today?

exactly what i was wondering...how is he qualified to make these decisions?..at least Tyka has experience in the industry and in a recording studio...i dont know that Omar is any more qualified than Alfred...

and thank you to Omarr | |

Purple Reign (cover band) was surprisingly great. But this just looks so cheesy. This visual looks like when a used-to-be-great band now is on a local record label that nobody has heard of. I guess we'll find out soon enough. Maybe they will be a pleasant surprise.

Seriously? no, this has to be some stupid internet spoof right? Or is this paisley park staff in Halloween garb? It is too ridiculously dumb to be mad about, but the backwards penis diaper in the pants is everything...Omar stop now...music business is not your forte...

I thought I was disheartened by NPG and Revolution touring without Prince. this takes the cake however. Prince must have been paying for everything for his half-bro while he was alive. Becuase now that he is dead and his fortune is tied up in probate, Omar resorts to his lunacy to get money. Does anyone actually think this band will make any money for the estate, especially when Prince music is available on Spotify, Amazon etc. Its not all of his music or concerts (which is very unfortunate) but it is certainly the same music these folks are probably going to cover in their little "tribute" band. This impersonater might be really talented but I have never liked the concept of impersonaters. they are nothing but caricatures most of the time (which is okay for comedy, but not much else) and the imagery they are projecting on this poster of this Prince substitute is skeevy and creepy. For one, he is not delicate enough or young enough looking to pull off that look. And the look is a badly derivative version of Graffiti Bridge Prince. (Prince pulled it off--this dude does not.) Appearance-wise, he looks like the tommy Wiseau (god awful, tacky actor and director ofthe worst film ever made the Room) of Prince impersonators.
Also Prince is irreplacable. Period.

After sunset on a Tuesday evening, purple lights shine on the white tiles that line Paisley Park and there are only a few cars left in the rear parking lot. The building’s public tours have shut down for the day, and the merch booths and cash registers are shrouded in purple fabric, all the lights turned down low. . But just down the hallway from the soundstage, tucked behind an insulated glass door, a familiar scene is playing out for the first time in far too long: The sound booth of Studio B is lined with musicians in wheeled office chairs who are bobbing their heads to a song they just finished recording in the early hours of that morning. The funky opening beat of “If I Was Your Girlfriend” is weaving through the air overhead, and Prince’s brother, Omarr Baker, is smiling like he’s trying to keep a killer secret, restraining himself from getting up to dance. . It’s taken a long time for Omarr to get here. Since Prince passed away, he’s been championing the idea of using Paisley Park’s state-of-the-art studios to record new music, something he says Prince explicitly wanted. Paisley Park opened for tours in October 2016, but it wasn’t until this summer that surviving members of Prince’s family began using Studio B again... . And....who in the sh*t f*ck h*ll wrote this copy?...it is sooooo bad..."it's taken a long time for Omar to get here"...well ya, he had to wait for prince to leave this planet, so there is that...it is so bad I have a hard time believing that it is not "punked" episode for prince people...
