Prince estate is removing youtube videos

It doesn't look good.

A live Prince video I had posted (Love Bizarre with Sheila E) is now removed by "Estate of Prince Rogers Nelson".

Maybe this will never come to complete openness.

Anyway, just a heads up, if you want to save any videos before they are gone

Backs up what I said about UMG not doing what they are suppose to do and the Estate taking over the take down notices. sad

Is this a surprise? Illegally uploaded videos have been removed for years. When I read the title I thought it meant that the videos were being removed form the official channel. There is nothing new happening here.

RIP sad

You are correct UMG was doing nothing about it before and Prince hired websheriff to take care of it and now the Estate may have hired someone.

Not a big surprise no.

But I have been watching a lot of unseen/great videos since Prince died.

I couldn't be sure if they would let the flow stay open or close it all down again.

I think they are making a mistake by closing it.

Well I can only be glad so many newcomers had the chance to see live recordings of him on the net.

Almost every live video I saw was flowing with new comments like "omg I knew he was good but I didn't know he was such a badass on stage / with a guitar etc."

The estate needs money. They are not going to get it if people can listen and view for free. You can go to I-Tunes and buy videos. At the end of the day this would have been his wishes. Good to see someone is making the estate follow his wishes.

If the estate is going to keep taking down Prince videos from the channels of other people, because they need the money, then why the hell are they not putting what they take down up on the official channel? It is not freaking rocket science! DAMN! mad

I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

The legal administrators need to concentrate on making money. Adding or removing videos to YouTube does not make money nor does it channel money back into the estate.

Maybe when the heirs are in control of the estate things may change.

I believe official product should not be shared on YouTube but TV clips and clips people have shot themselves should be.

Sadly such a mess... as usual.

At least the Warners official channel is managed and structured well... other than uploading videos in a lame 480p and low bitrate!

WB has a channel so Prince videos are on-line and the estate is being overseen by a court. They are suppose to protect the estate from just this sort of thing.

Once the probate is over maybe the family will have a YOUTUBE channel. Comerica is not going to maintain a YOUTUBE channel.

.
Don't forget that the Official YouTube channel obviously belongs to Warner, so they won't be putting any of those other videos up -- unless they win control of the other music.. I don't think that would be bad because it would simplify so much.
It's probably a test market. What gets lots of hits will be considered for a deluxe release.

If I am understanding correctly, the OFFICIAL Prince Youtube Channel, that started all free willy posting numerous Prince videos in July of this year, is the exact same OFFICIAL Prince Youtube Channel that just suddenly surfaced and disappeared back in March 2014, when Prince was still very much alive and well in all his Princetacularness; but it actually belonged to WB then and still belongs to WB now?

I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

So the estate is doing it now?

Back in January, I had a takedown due to a copyright claim by NPG Music Publishing. hammer

Then in February, my channel was deleted "due to multiple third-party notifications of copyright infringement." Snitches!! lol razz

but they have an imposter with a "new" NPG ready to make money...is this what he wanted with his estate? they should ONLY make money off his music to pay for PP.

Oh please. Stop with the excuses already. Omarr or Tyka or anyone of the siblings could contact Comerica and say leave videos up on YouTube. And if they agree with Prince’s stance on this then don’t be sharing YouTube videos on social media.

The New Power Soul and PRN Family Records venture is separate from the estate. That is Omarr's project. The money from that will go to him directly.

You do not understand how this works do you. Comerica is being overseen by the probate court that have a fiduciary duty to protect estate assests. Copyrighted material is an asset. The sibs agreed to bring Comerica in and let them make decisions on anything up to 2 million. Also the sibs cannot overrule Comerica as far as their fiduciary duties are concerned. I am sure they can object and they have already said they have little say which means Comerica is not listening to them much. I actually think it is good Comerica seems to be on point and things are actually getting done. Who knows what would be going on if the sibs had directly inherited. Orange would be the new color and holograms.

I'm shocked that anyone is shocked by this.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.
