"Never gonna stop lovin' you, baaaaa-baby... Gonna NEVER STOP!!! NEVER STOP!!! NEVER STOP!!! NEVER STOP!!!" 1981.
New Orleans.
The Controversy Tour.
Seriously. It will melt your face off. SOOOOOO GOOOOOOD!!!!!
Prince's vocals that night where truly on another level.
The recording too. Crytstal clear but RAW with just the right amount of crowd noise.
Prince at the end even SLAMS DOWN his microphone and you FEEL IT.
I can't imagine how there is a better version of this some out there.

* I love this version of "Do Me, Baby" as well as the version from the Nude Tour. The Controversy Tour version is raw, over the top, and gut-wrenching whereas the Nude Tour version is soft, silky, nuanced, and almost purrs with Miko’s perfect guitar solo creating the foundation/groove for Prince’s singing. I love them both as they are examples of the depth and range of Prince's talents, especially his ability to pull so many emotions from one note and from one song. These two versions almost sound like two different songs, but they are equally as powerful, much like “Little Red Corvette” from the Sign ‘O’ the Times Concert is so different from the 2009 version from Montreux. Yet, again, both versions of “Little Red Corvette” are equally nuanced and smoking. Damn, that Prince was a baaaaaaaaaaad mofo!

Yeah Baby, Houston is fine but New Orleans got some Congo Square. "if you can't clap on the one, then don't clap at all" | |

Yes, I think the entire audience had to go have a cig after that performance. I finally caught the video of this right after he passed. I needed a cigarette after watching that performance.
