Prince and Stevie Ray Vaughan Prince and Stevie Ray Vaughan (SRV) are two of my favourite guitarists but I remember reading that SRV (and others) was told not to look at or talk to Prince during some awards show. I hope this isn't true as I would like to think that Prince acknowledged SRV's talent. Does anyone know if they ever met or spoke about each other's work or perhaps covered the other's songs?

Their playing Is not even slightly similar. The closest connection you could probably find Would be Prince playing the guitar part of Let's Dance originally done by SRV live a few years back. Of course Prince didn't play Stevie's part and funked it up.

I saw Stevie Ray Vaughan on his last tour (I think it was with Jeff Beck). I remember reading that their had rehearsed their tour at Paisley Park back when many different projects were renting space and studio time there. My art book: http://www.lulu.com/spotl...ecomicskid

Stevie played Voodoo Child like P could not even dream of. But on topic, i dont think so that SRV would have been told that with Ps approval. SRV played with the old masters, he was one of the very very best.

Y'all are in some kind of fucking dreamworld, if you think Prince couldn't handle Stevie Ray Vaughn's playing. Stevie Ray Vaughn is a fucking Jimi Hendrix knock-off; he's nowhere close to the best.
Jimi Hendrix, Wes Montgomery, Prince, Robert Johnson are the best guitarists EVER, in my opinion.
NOONE has done what they've done on record, live, whatever...

Stevie Ray Vaughn is so overrated... and maybe innately, its a cultural thing, but i dont hear or feel anything in his music that justifies the hype...Wes Montgomery, Grant Green, Prince, Eddie Hazel, Al McKay, Jimi Hendrix, Nile Rodgers, Marv Tarplin, Carlos Santana, Andy Summers, Mick Mars, are all better IMO
