It is not of official origin, nor the proposed 12" maxi from 1987. It is on "DrFink's" mixcloud account, among other unofficial 'mixes'. .

I can't imagine it being any longer than the album cut. "I like to watch."

The official remix is rumored to be along the lines of the a 'I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man' 12" maxi deal. It may have been outsourced (and therefore may be partially looped and/or with newly recorded material not at P's immediate direction). It is unclear whether the horns section recorded by Eric Leeds was implemented in it. A test print of the single cover leaked about three or four years ago. . He was said to have been quite excited about the prospects of the single. It is unclear whether it was vaulted for quality control reasons, or reconsideration of its appropriateness as a single choice. . The 8:03/8:04 minute "version" the original poster is referring to is a self-made remix available for listening on DrFink's mixcloud account. It contains no new sound elements beyond the album version, except for those recorded by the remixer himself. . [Edited 9/20/17 16:42pm]

My guess it was always either a likely remix, as the beat is highly mixable, or played out as longer version with an instrumental extension. I base that only on the facts that the exisiting lyrical content seemed to conclude the story, and that the song fades out. .

I wonder if it went on into the 'Four' interpolation. Maybe 'Four' is "The Ballad of Dorothy Parker PT II". Or I can imagine the song ending abruptly with the same drum roll from the intro. [Edited 9/20/17 17:29pm] "I like to watch."

As previous replies stated, there indeed is an official extended version of Dorothy Parker that was recorded, could possibly be just an extension from the fade-out on the album version, as well as an 15+ minute version (give or take) of "Adore" as mentioned by Prince himself to the Orange & Black podcast team. Neither have been leaked and the one you heard online was most likely a fan-made or unofficial remix.
