videos from Interactive CD-ROM I have been working on a project to assemble all of Prince's music videos in a format that I can watch on my digital media center, grabbing clips from special edition DVDs of PR, UTCM, GB, Batman, and The Hits, along with iTunes and YouTube. Now I'm filling in the blanks on the otherwise-unavailable videos.
I just extracted the original QuickTime movies from the Interactive CD-ROM for "Interactive" and "Endorphinmachine." Because the CD-ROM was released in 1994 and digital video was in its infancy, the quality of the files is fairly horrendous and unwatchable when I try to blow it up to the size of my monitor.
Does anyone know if either of these videos were ever made available in better quality? Or is this the only place they have ever been released? I noticed a TOTP banner in the "Endorphinmachine" video, indicating "Top Of The Pops," but it doesn't look like he ever performed the song on a broadcast.
Who can help? | |

To my knowledge, "Endorphinmachine" was filmed on the TOTP set exclusively to put on the CD-Rom. I don't think it was ever re-released (even on NPGMC) in a better quality. I hate that because it's one of my favorite "live" versions of the song. Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

I guess Prince recorded a second song, either as a potential single release (TMBGITW was his only UK Number 1, so he was probably pumped), or he may have simply let the camera roll and decided to throw the recording in the CD ROM. .

I still have my original Interactive cd rom Remember paying $60 for it at the MicroCenter then seeing it later at Walmart in a multi pack for $5.99 lol. I did use a lot of the media files ( pics and sounds ) on my computer. I used the sound bytes for startup ( lets go crazy intro ) and the guitar solo ending for shut down. The large Prince collage pic was used for my background and his famous call out and screams were used for different functions. I even used the " that's not how it works" sound byte for errors. Fun times back then. My sons were baby's and wore homemade Prince tshirts made from that CD Rom .Lol

Hey, you're right! I never connected the two because the CD-ROM video begins differently and cuts all of the Nona Gaye footage, replaced by weird interstitials for LAUNCH SUCCESSFUL at the beginning and the computer-generated AUTO PILOT landscapes for the final minute.
I just watched them side-by-side and The Beautiful Experience version is much more satisfying. I suppose I need to include both of them for the sake of completeness. Hooray for obsessiveness!
Bummer that "Endorphinmachine" can only be seen in this low-res version. Maybe it will eventually emerge.
