Jill Jones' role in the Graffiti Bridge movie was originally much larger than what she ended up playing. Kim Basinger was intended as the original lead in the movie, but when she and Prince parted company shortly before filming began, Prince simply combined Kim's and Jill's parts together and gave them to Ingred Chavez. Jill was then given a much smaller role as Prince's girlfriend.

While flying to Minneapolis to film the movie, Jill read the revamped script and began to tear it up and started to throw pages all around the cabin. Jill retired to the bathroom while her PA had to walk around the plane asking fellow passengers for pages of the script back.

Jill later said that if she had not been on the plane already she would have turned right round and returned home.

Yeah I remember this story smile Jill angrily walked to the restroom and her assistant was going around the plane saying "can I have that page,please....yeah the one in your fettuccini"? LMAO When you think about it,Jill got a raw deal in both movies (PR and GB).Neither movie featured a song by her and her character was unimportant. In GB,she had to lip-sync someone else's vocals ("Love Machine").

The odd thing about JJ roles in both movies, they kinda reflected her role in Prince's life in reality.

I agree. The 'unrequited love' and the 'other woman' etc you see/hear it throught the music attached to her as well. A lot of the outtakes done for her had that them. Even Mia Bocca and some others released.

That is the thing about Prince, the success of the 1980s period was partially hinged on the fantasy. The character roles in Uptown. That was more attached to the proteges, but it involved everyone too.

Like Sheila E was the 'affair' the 'secret love' and it is heard throught all 3 albums. + He mirrored himself in her for 'competitive' purposes. And both kind continued in doses throught their lifetime together.

It was all right there in front of JJ. But because there was also friendship it was probably harder to see until after they fell away. I think it probably still hasn't fully hit her that it had a big part in her Prince relation.

Jill was slotted to be in, she tried out, and didn't get the part.

I think his penchant for fantasy entering reality was strong
And a way of exacting it was using his art. That line was bluuuuurrrrryyyy for
him.

That is the norm on this board. People that were involved with Prince know nothing. Jill has said in numerous interviews that she knew what Prince was up to all the time.

He looked her in the face and told her they were going to still be together as a couple despite his engagement to Susannah Melvoin but they could not be seen in public anymore.

How would she not have known what was in front of her when he was setting her up with an apartment in New York to be his east coast mistress.

Is Vain the correct word? I don't think it is.

I appreciate and respect JJ. The fact that this is all you had to say or contribute says more about you.

When I talked to her earlier this year, it was clear she was still processing this stuff.
And her 'quote' "Some guys give you flowers, Prince gave you an album" something like that.
It was something that she came to an awareness of.
.
I don't think I'm understanding it better than she does. She is definately still in the grieving process, and processing what has happened.

.

What I said is common with most relationships. In it we don't always see the 'bigger view'.

A lot of times people who witness it 'outside the love' see things apparent that we do not.

Well Laurarichardson who likes to snarl and fight with everyone, who also like to correct everyone as if he knows it all...

You still kept yelling at us that Sheila E didn't release any singles for her 3rd album.

.

Yeah she knew, but when you are IN the relationship and even outside of it sometimes, you are caught up in what is happening or the pheromones.
.
She did not really have the opportunity to an 'end' to the relationship and for 20+ years they never spoke again. That stuff can turn around in you for years unresolved. They finally spoke again in 2016, but now the processing out has to happen.

Do you have a degree in phycologist or consulting? You have no fucking idea what is still unresolved. If you took the time to listen to the numerous interviews she has done in the last year you would know that her issues with him were resolved when she decided to leave.

These are all comments that came out of her mouth not what some person on the internet thinks.

I have no words for your peusdo phsyco babble.

As far as Sheila E is concerned I am sorry I did not know about the singles that were releashed in Japan. Do you even know anything about the music business at all? Do you know why record companies dump songs in Japan or Outer Mongolia? It is because they are done with promoting the record and Sheila has explained numerous times why she was done at that time with being a band leader. She was not going to promote that record in the appropriate manner and WB was not going to put money into promoting it if she was going to be off for two years playing in Prince's band. Why can't you figure this out. Singles being releashed and a video mean nothing if the artist is off doing something else.

I think you spend zero time listening to anything certain associates have to say and then make up your own babble.

Listen to Jill's interviews/ She is very clear about her relationship with Prince were she stood and how in the end most of the women actually became friends and were civil with each other which is what Prince wanted in the first place. This is all stuff coming out her mouth. She is not yelling or being crazy she is explaining what the stituation was at the time which is not the narrative you want. Too bad.

Yeah, it didn't make sense. But Tevin Campbell gets a song.

But I think it was reflective of the movie. I believe there were about 5 variations of what was to be Graffiti Bridge, and this one was the last minute effect to make it happen

I agree. I had heard rumors that the movie was cut a lot by WB. The version released was "lost in translation". Personally, I would like to see the original concept before cuts. I do not know if it exists.

I believe the 1st involved Prince Madonna and the Lovesexy band

the next was with Kim Bassinger and was changed a bit

there was also something that was to be 'The Time' centered (Jimmy Jam talked about a movie they had originally and Prince wanted to do that, but it had to change and include Prince)

and 1 or 2 others. The one that had Jill Jones featured more

Jill Jones

The second album... My mother passed away in '95. When she was diagnosed in cancer in '94, I had a deal with London Records. Steve Fargnoli hooked me up with them. My contract expired with Prince in 1993 on April 15... which I remember because it was seven years to the day. When my mom passed...I didn't want to sing. I don't think I handled it as professionally as I should have. I wrote a letter to my manager that said “You're just too busy going through the corporate world, because you don't know what the fuck you're doing.” And I faxed it. And we were dropped... I (later) recorded (the album Two) with Chris Bruce and it was cathartic. I had a new boyfriend at the time and that was a nightmare. (I) just had to get it all out. That record came and it was supposed to come. (The song) "Gorgeous Wonder" is about my daughter and she just saved me in so many ways. I just ended up going into interior design through friends. It was very trying and tricky. I remember (one time) that I was bartending and the RZA (from the Wu-Tang Clan) came in and said “you're Jill Jones” and I was like “No, I don't understand” and I pretended like I was French. Don't let your pride swallow you up...because that is a mistake. Everything's fixable and your good friends would never make you feel bad about it...

Love machine #1 (5:18) (lead vocals by Prince)

Love machine.

(chorus)
I've got the toys to turn your body out.
I got the noise to make you scream and shout.
The love machine take your body higher.
Cuz if it don't, then I know you're a liar.

Don't lie. You want some head that'll make you cry?
17 tongues licking from the neck down.
Moving in a quick speed, circular motion, round and round.
I said it, round and round. Like you like it. I lick it like you like it.

(repeat chorus)

Don't bathe. The love machine cleans it with a little faith.
Like a car wash spittin' out soap and oil.
There ain't never been a cleaner girl in the whole wide world.
Turnin' into your pussy's psyche.
Dial a perfume that you like. The love machine will put it on you right.

(repeat chorus)

Hey yeah! Love machine. Hey hey yeah! Love machine.
Hey yeah! Love machine. Hey hey yeah! La... love... la, la, Love machine

Tunin' into your pussy's psyche.
Turnin' In, Turnin in, La, la, la, la, Push it.
Put it on you right.

Love machine.

Fast or slow, like a Leslie goes.
If you want, I can give you complete control.
Over your climax and over mine.
The harder you come, the longer the time...
The longer the time it takes for us to come again.
Little fat rabbits in a hot sweat.
Specially designed to find the love machine.
Oh!
.... Oh!
You're...
.... You're mine.
mine.

Yeah, yeah! Yeah, yeah!
Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha! - Love machine.
Love machine...

When I need trombone, my dog is handy.
But when I need sax, I call Candy.

Love machine.
.... Higher.

Shall we say we're in Paris?
.... I don't know.
Shall we say we're in Rome?
.... We could.
Shall we imagine a menage-a-trois?
.... I'm too young.
Shall we imagine we're alone?
.... What can I say to that?
Shall we dream of each other naked?
.... Shit.
Shall we get undressed right here?
.... I dunno.
Shall we do this thing by the books?
.... What are you doing to me?
Shall we give in to our biggest fears?
.... Are you afraid?
Are you gonna dance with me?
.... Yes.
Are you gonna let me spin you around?
.... I might.
Are you gonna kiss me quiet?
.... Can't you hear me?
Are you gonna make love with sound?
.... Isn't that the way it's done?
Are you playin' the part of a shy one?
.... I am not.
Or are your inhibitions gone?
.... They are.
Are you afraid of the love machine?
.... Hell.
Or will you let me drink you 'til dawn, drink you 'til dawn?

I've got the toys to turn your body out.
I got the noise to make you scream and shout.
The love machine.

(repeat chorus)

Love machine.
The love machine.

If it is the youtube video can you give us a mark where it begins.
