I'm not sure many people will want a grany version of some Dirty Mind concert or every single version of Love Thy Will Be Done tha he ever did, but most people on this site certainly would. Take our money now. There is stuff ready to be uploaded as we speak. Release it.

First of all, thank you so much, June7, for organizing this. It is wonderful to get direct feedback from the estate, and I hope such correspondence can continue somehow.

I think this presents an amazing opportunity for fans to get involved with upcoming releases. Just a suggestion: maybe we should use this thread to collate ideas, and the top 10 or so can be put into a big poll such that the most popular options are presented to the estate? We could advertise such a thing widely among the community through Facebook groups and other purple outlets.

As for my picks, it is really hard to limit it to just 2, but I'd decided on the following:

1. Lovesexy Deluxe, as follows:

• Disc 1: the album with 9 separate tracks
• Disc 2: The Black Album: these albums are forever paired in Prince lore, and this would be an opportunity to cement their union as demonstrated in the Lovesexy Tour
• Disc 3: an outtakes disc, preferably containing the final configuration of the aborted Rave Unto the Joy Fantastic album as well as the other considered tracks as bonus tracks (15 tracks total)
• Disc 4: Livesexy on DVD
• Disc 5/6: Audio (video?) of the famous Small Club performance

Why? It serves several needs by releasing one of Prince's most fan-beloved albums in tracked form (a streaming version of which would likely help boost streams), releasing Prince's most notorious bootlegs in The Black Album and the Small Club performance, a fully sequenced unreleased album which overlaps with Small Club ("Rave" and "Still Would Stand All Time"), and a digital version of one of his most celebrated tours.

2. Piano and a Microphone box set, containing at least the first show at Paisley Park and the last show at Atlanta. A more deluxe version could contain a selection of other shows or highlights therein (not my idea - I believe there was a thread here recently which proposed something like this).

Why? Prince indicated that he was working on the Atlanta show for subsequent release anyway, so it would be a touching way to continue his wishes and show off to the world what an amazingly intimate and powerful tour it was.

Prince said the Piano and Mic show in Atlanta was the best so far and he planned to release them. I vote for a DVD and CD of the final Atlanta shows.

It's not a shocking choice, but go with the most recent next:

The last show (or maybe another Piano and Microphone--but since he indicated that Atlanta would be receiving some sort of release, it seems appropriate to release it.

Black Is the New Black (unless something we don't know about was going on near the end that could be more successful or showed some other moves forward).

We've had the look back with what's come out so far--Moonbeam Levels and the Purple Rain vault disc were good (well, Moonbeam Levels is Moonbeam Levels, and you feel about it whatever you feel about it, and it didn't sound great--but there's a whole lot like a whole lot on that Purple Rain disc)--but everyone knows he was great then, and obviously there are tons of leaks from the 80s-mid 90s. But the last few years were pretty exciting, and in my view promising. I'd like to see what he was putting together on BITNB--now, if it's not that good.........well, maybe something else might be better. But I would strongly encourage something studio from outside of the "classic" years. Maybe something from those multiple albums Hayes says he did during the quiet period after 20Ten.

Totally agree with you. Black is the new black, Piano&Mic and all the Mononeon stuff are the things we were supposed to be listening to. [Edited 8/12/17 5:27am]

Yes, we already technically have these but it's Prince on point and they deserve a legit release. All 5 shows. DVD/Blu-Ray. It would cement Prince's legacy as one of the greatest live and showcase his massive range.

I really hope whatever it is it's from the vault and Studio material. I think live material would generate very little interest at all apart from the hardcore fans.

I think if Black Is The New Black or the Free U'reself albums were completed then they should be first.

I would also love to see a release of 1985/86 material. There is enough to fill two Cd's at least and I think a relese like this would receive very positive reviews

Ideally I'd like to see two releases a year - one for casual fans and one for the more obsessed. Maybe deluxe remasters (similar to Purple Rain - obviously working backward from better selling albums to under the radar releases) and a live release, or maybe Piano & a Microphone cd/dvd and a mythical album (Crystal Ball, The Dawn, etc).

Jimi Hendrix's legacy was built off of live performances and he didn't come close to having the range Prince had.

Waking the public up to this fact is something the estate should pursue. Prince has must listen to shows in nearly every era of his live career. When you think of legendary artists, most of them have numerous live releases and various career defining shows available.

As to asking for stuff that we already have bootlegs of, just look to Purple Rain Deluxe. Better quality. Mainstream recognition. Forming Prince's legacy.

There's plenty of great material that has been circulating in less-than-stellar quality, so I can't blame people for wanting to finally have cleaned up versions of tracks they know they love. But I also understand the desire to hear unheard material (even though there's also the risk that it ends up being a disappointment and was left in the vault for a reason)

Yah, like orgers' popular choice for new material Crystal Ball 1, 2 & 3 when there is no 2 and 3 anyway . Because P shelved it.
