Symbol Album on Vinyl -- How Does it Sound?

I've never heard the original vinyl pressing of the Symbol album. How does it sound? Is it noticeably better than the CD?

It starts with 'My name is Prince' and ends with 'The Sacrifice Of Victor' (With a few crackles in between), that's all I can tell you at this stage.

I own it and have never played it. I had the CD that was more convenient.

I only picked this up quite recently. It sounds fantastic to my ears KS, really breathes new life into the album if you've mainly listened on CD or tape. The Morning Papers, Damn U... the dynamic range and clarity is fantastic.

Nice. I'm tempted to hunt down an original pressing, especially now that the vinyl reissue series is frozen.

Romeoblu

The Flow ends side 3 and it fades out with the beginning of 7 included in the fade, that anoys me otherwise it sounds great.

Sorry, not for sale. Although, sometime in this year I will be selling some cool Prince stuff. Sealed long boxes, official WB posters etc.

With Prince's use of DAT, a lot of his 90s material was a bit crisper than we're used to previously hearing from him. And while those records are not unlistenable because of the DAT, hearing the 90s stuff on vinyl with that middle warmth really puts a nice subtle feel on stuff like the prince album.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Nah. Only $50 for a beautiful copy. But I've been spending a TON on music lately. Just trying hard to stay afloat in this shitshow world.

It only cost me about $25.00 in 2003. I see it's gone up in value since his passing. But that's to be expected.

Got it. Sounds epic on vinyl, especially the ballads, I've A-B'ed this with CD a few times and vinyl wins

I have a feeling I came a thread like this before but never mind. It is indeed a very nice sounding 2 record set I would recommend for you to hunt for a copy of this. biggrin

I got my copy of the Symbol album on vinyl. It's fucking fantastic. This has always been one of my favorite Prince albums. I've never heard it like this before. Everything sounds very natural and warm compared to the CD. I love it.

I have it - sounds excellent - listening to it now. A very well mastered and well pressed album - it really slams. This is the UK/Europe pressing. <p>

Bob... Ain't dat a bitch?
