Would you want a Piano & a Microphone BOXSET?

If there's anything I want to hear from the vault (and if there's anything the estate should release) is a Piano & a Microphone boxset!

The world needs to hear how awesome of a piano player and performer he was

Maybe also a separate release of just one CD that's a "best of" piano tour, that will appeal to a more mainstream audience. But we the hardcore fans would love a boxset

I think a whole set of piano would be a bit much. Maybe one CD of that, one rock, one funk, one aftershow and one pop or psychadelic/experimental. A one shot DVD of P&M tour would probably suffice. I know I'd get bored with a whole set of that stuff.

I get your drift, as I love those shows. One of the best things about them was the shear number of songs covered on the tour, including several ones from the 2000s as well as some obscure onea6 .My fantasy box set would be three show that had very different set lists (including the final show in Atlanta as he apparently had planned) and then have the remaining discs have the best versions of all the songs not covered in the three concerts. I am interested in plenty of the other tours too, but I think the Piano & Mic deserves it's own box.

A box set seems a bit much.
A box set of concerts including Piano & Microphone sounds better.

Yeah, didnt he state in som interview that they were busy 'cleaning' it up for release?

But we all know it still may have never been released as the change of mind/project syndrome.

YES. The 2 Paisley Park P&M Gala shows, the final 2 Atlanta shows and maybe a compiled "Best of" the tour, ala ONA Live!.... and you could name your price.

This would be (one of) the most morose box sets ever. Cohen couldnt hold a candle to how depressing it would be.

Although I would like a big box set of all the shows, logistically it would be better to...

Regular Edition: Both Atlanta shows CDs

Regular Video Edition: Both Atlanta shows DVD/BD

Deluxe Edition: Both Atlanta shows CD/DVD/BD

Deluxe Collector's Edition: Both Atlanta shows CD/DVD/BD + Paisley Park show CD + Best of compilation of the rest of the tour CD

Don't hate your neighbors. Hate the media that tells you to hate your neighbors.

Maybe a download or a single cd, but realistically...that's a hardcore fan type of release. I wouldn't be surprised if they released a Purple Rain tour Live disc. The only reason I say that tour is because as the shows get more recent...casual listeners won't know as many songs. It sucks, but honestly...why do you think they haven't released the SOTT movie? Well one reason is he's lip syncing, but the real reason is the song selection.

If the estate should release anything it has to be this, then work backwards in releasing previous tours.

That was only one week before he died, and that night/morning after were the plane OD incident. Then the Paisley Park party was the Saturday immediately after.

I don't think Prince would've had time to work on that last concert, logistically. Unless it was the VERY last thing he was working on the few days before he died.

To add to the OP question:

I think the more concise P&M album, the better. Maybe a 2-3 CD release of ONE show, but not a multiple-show boxset.

If there were any repeated songs, I'd be against that. I'd also be against a "cobbled-together/best-of" situation.

No but I would like one full concert on cd and dvd. I no longer appreciate excessive releases. Too much at one time dilutes a project....hmmm...yet I would like a 4 cd 60 track box of studio outtakes

No. If the estate wanted to release something unique, how about all the 12' mixes of his songs. Including 17 Days and the America opus.

...I'm leaving my pants on cause I'm kinda going with someone...
