Bluesy, funky, and groovy

Linn-Drum in your face, singing-screaming vocals, very intense, he sings "sha-la-lala, sha-la-lala oh" as if his life depended on it. Very busy song, mainly bass and keyboards, don't really hear a guitar. I think it somehow has a rockabily vibe but not quite. The bass drum is unusual. Doesn't really reminds me of any other Prince song.

'Paisley Park (Instrumental)'-esque drum machine programming and effects (which was recorded about two weeks later).

Yes, I immediately heard echoes of 'Paisley Park (Instrumental)' as well.

perhaps it's the vocal track? i don't mean the screaming, that's fine. but the vocal tracks,
including the layered vocals are a bit hard to make out/understand perhaps? or is it the

it's so 'in your face' that almost doesn't feel like a song anymore i don't know how to
explain it. there are elements of this that are absolutely great. but it feels so odd and not
in a 'fantastic weird prince' odd way.

but who knows, often the off kilter songs are the ones that grow on me the most. it's just
so different and so, i don't know.

would i trade it for something else though? no, absolutely not,

The intro music and scream sound very much to me like the live birthday '84 version of Possessed. Listen to both and see if you agree.

the mixing is garbage on this track, you can barely hear him in parts..

very disappointing for a 2017 release

If this is the only mix they have access to there isn't much they could have done about it. It's unlikely WB had access to the multi-track. I for one would rather they release what they have instead of excluding the track.

Yesterday this song burst onto my list of Top-10-Prince-Songs-Ever and still hasn't left.

"We Can Fuck" and "Possessed" are also knocking.

the opening is how he opened Possessed on the June 7th 1984 Birthday show, and some of that synth reminds me of the opening of Sister Fate.

I was SUPER STOKED to hear the song after it was desribed to me awhile back. When I first heard it - the screams, laughs, manic vocals, crazed drum programming, etc. I smiled... It's one of my favorite songs, no lie. I've been BLASTING IT all over Texas as I drive these past few weeks. Great stuff!!!
