Don't Let Him Fool Ya

Take a well deserved break from the Purple Rain deluxe and re-visit this perfect funk stomp from 1982.

This feels a little sparse compared to modern production expectations, yet it's a great base idea which could have had an additional harmony, call-and-response and maybe even a middle eight.

Bloomin' awesome tune!!

When I hear tracks like this it reminds me why I like Prince so much.

Sadly, some the the chatter around PR Deluxe can send us down a dark hole, but this track bought it all back for me.

Don't get me wrong, I think that all of the talk about PR Deluxe is great and informative, but it burned me out!

So lets get back to some bloomin' awesome tunes!!!

Oh yes totally agree.

BUT... bear in mind it's 1982. Prince probably does everything. He's added a few overdubs probably as a guide.

This is certainly a skeleton of an idea that could have been produced further.

But don't let that put you off, it's bloomin' funky amazing.

I've been playing this to non-Prince fans and they love it.

This track would have been perfect for Purple Rain the movie as it describes Prince's rivalry with Morris to a tee.
