Music world moving on this year without Prince. What are your thoughts when you are watching music awards shows and you notice they aren't mentioning Prince anymore? Do you feel the music industry gave you closure as a fan? How do you feel?

I feel nothing. I dont think he is to be honored for each show for the rest of time. Thats ridiculous. I think some Prince fans should move on. There are posts made here and aborad with statements saying theyre crying daily etc. and even moving to Mn to be closer to the "action." These are grown people with kids. "Climb in my fur."

He was honored at the major music award shows last year (and the Rock Hall induction this year), I think that'd be enough. Just because Prince meant the world to everyone here doesn't mean the world has to stop the presses and mourn Prince at every music related event of any magnitude from now on. Doesn't mean that anyone has forgotten about him, maybe we should just appreciate the legends still with us while they're here... although the ones worth cherishing probably aren't getting much love at modern award shows [Edited 6/25/17 21:39pm]

Meh. Its just not like it used to be w/o the chance of the purple yoda showing up. It was always such a thrill. Besides today's music just doesn't grab me. Hoping that changes some day. It was inevitable life and music would move on. It has to. I still love and miss P tho and likely always will. I don't see that as necessarily a problem either. It is what it is. It's a hurtful place, the world, in and of itself. We don't need to add to it. We all need one another. ~ PRN

I definitely feel an emptiness and that there's a hole in music that will never be filled. But if there are people still crying every day they have bigger issues. And I see people on Facebook saying they want to move to Chanhassen. I don't understand why and I live there. He's not here and while there's been a lot of celebrations the past year or so it's not Prince 24/7 here. Unless someone has another reason for moving just moving here to be close to Prince or Paisley Park seems weird to me. Paisley Park is in your heart

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

"To be imbalanced in one's grief for Prince is to dishonor the man and his legacy of life, music, and love." - Not true. Grieving someone for "too long" does not dishonor them in the least.
"He died a legend, and a statistic. He could have went out better than that." - There's nothing proven that makes that true.

The problem with that statement (to me) is that SO many entertainers/stars that die from drugs do so due to a casual use of drugs/alcohol that ends tragically. If Prince's death was due to chronic pain that caused him to become addicted, that is a MUCH different type of death than what is inferred from "a drug addicted rock star." Not to be a hypocrite, Prince could have been a habitual recreational drug user. My point is, we don't know for sure. There have been a LOT of other entertainers/rock stars where we know for sure that it was casual drug use/alcoholism that ended tragically. For example, though taking drugs to combat chronic sleep deprivation seems to be what killed Michael Jackson, I doubt people frame him as "a drug addicted rock star".

Is it wrong for me to be pissed that Prince is gone when guys like Ozzy Osborne and Keith Richards are still here? Paisley Park is in your heart

No judgment, but yeah, it's wrong. You were probably joking, though. I know some people wouldn't be joking.

I was honestly quite shocked and touched by the amount of attention Prince has gotten since April 21. A lot of my fandom was spent with Prince being perceived as tacky, gross, or weird by the general public, so seeing him appreciated and loved to such a degree by the media, music industry, and public at large was a surprise. It's been over a year, now, and I think it's only natural that the high-profile tributes would stop. He'll continue to be discussed as a legend and continue to be covered by artists in concerts as personal tributes, and that is fine. Feel free to join in the Prince Album Poll 2018! Let'a celebrate his legacy by counting down the most beloved Prince albums, as decided by you!

With the exception of a handful of tributes, I stopped watching the award shows for pleasure years ago. I rarely enjoy the mainstream sound, nowadays.

Of course the tributes were going to end. Honestly I'm amazed by how long they went on and how in-depth they were. Prince will never be as big again as he was in 2016. But that doesn't mean he's forgotten. Bowie and MJ and Whitney and George Michael and Lennon and Marvin and Elvis and Sam Cooke don't get mentioned every year but they're still legends. Prince said it himself in Violet The Organ Grinder: "I'll die but I won't go away".

I agree, and to be honest,I'm tired of all those damn tributes. The best way to remember Prince is to keep his music alive.....play it and enjoy it whenever you like.I don't need a lame award show tribute to remind me of Prince and his amazing talents.

Something is definitely missing when you watch those awards shows now. It feels different with Prince not there. To me, even the music on the radio is different. I do miss him. When he passed away, the music stopped.

I always tought of him as an outsider and loved him for that, so I couldn´t care less about Oscars, Golden Globes, Grammys, etc. I spend most of my free time searching and listening to new stuff and Prince is the only one I always kept close since the mid 80´s. I listen to him on a daily basis, along with my indie rock favorites, so, for me, he is still here. Of course, we´ll forever miss the excitement and expectation of what would he do next...
