Father's Song - Out Friday Father's Song is available now (Friday) on NZ iTunes, so it's safe to assume all other iTunes will follow suit.
Thoughts on the full version? Any info anyone would like to share on it? "Like the drummer said, you got to die."

LOVE! My review: The third tidbit released from the disc of outtake goodies on the deluxe edition of Purple Rain, "Father's Song" sees Prince showcasing his soundtrack score skills. In the film, the song is played by The Kid's father alone on the piano after a fight with his wife that left her bruised and alone sitting by the curbside. The Kid later plays it by ear himself, and then interpolates it into the bridge of "Computer Blue" as a visceral electric guitar exorcism. This version is extended well beyond what was shown in the film. It starts as the familiar, plaintive piano motif for just under 2 minutes before adding increasingly processed synthesizers that add a grittiness to the track that I adore. These synths don't sound that far removed from the atmospheric soundscapes Giorgio Moroder produced during his stint as 80s soundtrack king. Some may have preferred the song to remain a pure piano piece, but the added textures are perfectly welcome in my book, as they augment the ache that echoes throughout the version shown in the film. Feel free to join in the Prince Album Poll 2018! Let'a celebrate his legacy by counting down the most beloved Prince albums, as decided by you!
