I'll Do Anything

I seem to remember someone posting a tracklist for this P album? Was there ever a (semi-) definitive configuration for this album or did it never go beyond the planning stage? Anyone? Boris?

Prince did write a soundtrack for the movie "I'll Do Anything", but I don't think the actual music was used in the movie. The one song that I know he wrote for that movie was "Little Darlin'", that I think Chaka Khan did a cover of on one of her CDs.
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

That song is actually called "Don't Talk 2 Strangers" and yes,Chaka did a cover version on her album.

There is a list of songs which Prince wrote and recorded for use in the film, and inevitably their was at least some idea of the order in which they would have been used had the film emerged as a musical. However, I don't believe there was ever an album configured for this aborted project.

True,

the tracks in question are as follows
(usually in this order too)

The Rest Of My Life
Make Believe
I'll Do Anything
Don't Talk 2 Strangers
My Little Pill
Empty Room
There Is Lonely
Be My Mirror

plus the tracks...

I Can't Love U Anymore
Poor Little Bastard
Wow

and there's also an "I'll Do Anything" medley too.

What about "Poor little bastard" and "I can't love u anymore"... were these written for the film? And that updated version of Empty Room (different from the 95 version)? nuts

Most, if not all the songs written for the film
(including 'Poor Little Bastard' and 'I Can't Love
U Anymore') were really nothing more than demos.
If the film had remained a musical as was originally
intended, then the accompanying soundtrack would
not have featured Prince's versions of these tracks
anyway, it would have been a 'Cast recording'.

'Wow' and the 'I'll Do Anything Medley' are the
only proper cast recordings of these songs to
surface. Empty Room is indeed a completely
different recording of the song to the '95 version.
Instead of being a guitar driven power ballad like
the original, it's a more subdued affair featuring
mainly piano and strings.

Alas, I'll Do Anything was just recently released on DVD--but there were no extras included. Perhaps a future edition will be released with the songs included?

I thought most of those songs were really shoddy material. I thought it laughable. Be My Mirror is just terrible barf Im glad it never came 2 anything much, I think it wouldnt have done Prince any favours...

I beg to differ, I have the Platinum album with all the songs on it for the movie and I think it is the best album ever put together of Prince music.

I remember when the first trailer for this film came out. I was working as a projectionist at a movie theatre in santa monica. The trailer was for the musical version of the film, and had some scenes of the cast singing and dancing to "Wow". Also, I could SWEAR that the song "When the lights go down" from The Vault is playing in this trailer.

No - not all of the songs intended for the soundtrack are on Platinum:

I Can't Love U Anymore
Poor Little Bastard
Wow
ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift.
