I've always thought the "pop goes the music" line was a brilliant one.

The entire song is just about living life to its fullest right? I don't think it's something that can be interpreted literally, although someone on here might have a great theory.

The white rabbit idea comes from Alice in Wonderland and generally means following your curiosity until you start to see things different. He then follows the colours from the white rabbit to your friend going green with envy (and doing The Walk (kind of a reference to the Time song i'd say) ) and a yellow day (sunshine).


I suppose what he's saying is follow your curiosity, follow your talent, play your music and don't worry about people who try to put you down, just have fun and eventually they'll come round to your way of thinking.

I think people have mentioned it is a slight at Morris Day. "The colour green will make your BEST FRIEND leave you. It'll make him do THE WALK. 'The walk' being a Time track. And i believe Morris had an album called 'the colour of success'.

The color green.I thought he was referring to money.

I was just listening to this song today, love it love the drum beats in this one! I agree with what you are saying here.

I think what is particularly good is that P could build meaningful lyrics into the 'popiest' of tunes. Even now, I thing we can all discover new layers to many songs.
