Question about Dig U Better Dead So I've always liked this song, and I've always given support to Chaos And Disorder. But what is this song even about, more specifically a line in the chorus: "I dig u better dead but I'd much rather see if your god is what you say".

But what is this song even about, more specifically a line in the chorus: "I dig u better dead but I'd much rather see if your god is what you say". I used to think it was generally about people going AGAINST their better nature. Particularly with the pre chorus: "Somebody said in life there's always peaks and valleys and (but)If you're lost they won't show you the way" (As a token of that action) "That same somebody (who knows better but won't show u the way/try to) said (*by INaction) I dig you better, dead" The part "but i much rather see if your God is what you said said said" is more social Prince, Referring to biblical stuff (mores, stories, lessons or TRUTH to some) Bible stuff: (*I'll have to look it up cause although i can paraphrase it, i don't know the passage) Well. Can't find it at 11:13pm....no bible (*or non sci-fi/guy magazines) nearby. In a nutshell: "the devil tries to reason with God and his follower, that God is only protecting this fellow because he's within his realm and within God's circle (*er what not) and the devil says to God - if it wasn't for your protection and (circle?) He would not have ANY faith in you" But fortunately, he DID have faith and proved the devil a liar. (*so the thing I'm paraphrasing goes) So that's my take on that reference. But I'm no biblical scholar. If someone is doing that same to you in all knowing that it is neglectful and or wrong, they too are committing that evil/siding with doubt and someone who will not "be his brother's keeper" At least that's my take on it. I've always liked that album. It gets trashed on on the org as being a throwaway but I've never felt that way about it. They were great "obligatory" albums despite having likely been "vault" material P felt weren't fit for a high concept coherent album ♫"Trollin, Trolling! We could have fun just trollin'!"♫

I think its more or less a song about fake people not being true, people who say one thing and then do the opposite with their actions. Seems to me its about someone using drugs and prince was unaware of it until the person almost died.'A toke or two, what the fuck?' My favourite line is 'if u plan on catching a bus you better have plenty fare',which is like saying whatever your plans are,u have to pay your own way.

"i dig u better dead but id rather much see if your God is what u say". Prince was a believer in God,and the person this song is about seems to believe in God not the way prince does (your God).Prince like all believers know there is only one God.Anyone saying my God is different to yours does not understand the true meaning of God. God is one and he is for all.
