Oh ffs, get over it Rogifan shake The best part of Chanhassen has passed. Don't worry, your city is gonna make a fortune with all the revenue his death is bringing to it. People are going there to see where Prince lived and get a sense of what his life was like. The same would be happening wherever it was that he lived, there is nothing special about Chanhassen itself except for Prince.

When did I say there was anything special about Chanhassen? I didn't. But to suggest the only good thing about the city was that Prince lived there is ridiculous. My point was out of everything posted at that link in the OP the only thing remotely bothersome was some Twitter loser calling the residents of Chanhassen shitty rich white people.

I beg to differ. I find these two examples to be quite bothersome and reflective of a shitty attitude being displayed by some of the fine citizens of Chanhassen who were scheming and conniving to get their hands on Prince's property before he was even funeralized.....

For instance, Chanhassen’s park and recreation director received an e-mail one week after Prince’s death which read, “I know this is really too soon … But I hope there have been some discussions about the city purchasing Prince’s property off of Galpin Blvd.”

and....

After Prince’s death, city manager Todd Gerhardt also addressed an attempt by citizens to place a water treatment facility on the singer’s property.

“The neighborhood still thinks that there is opportunity to plan the treatment plant within Prince’s property,” the city manager wrote in a September e-mail to a City Council member. “Why we have not done this [is because] the property is not under the ownership of a developer. If it was under one ownership we could look for opportunities like we did with the current location.”

“You can not just pick a spot for the water treatment plant and then plan the development around it – that is not a good planning process,” Gerhardt explained. He subsequently told PRM that the plant is being built on another site, and not on Prince’s property.

Just add these to the long list of vultures that have been circling for the past year.

WTF are you talking about?
The coroner conducted a 4-5 hour autopsy in his remains.

You didn't know that? Why not?

I won't begin to describe what that autopsy would have entailed. You might have nightmares. Go find some of the "Dr G Medical Examiner" shows and pay attention.

I'm appalled that people here come up with wild accusations pulled out of their orifice, some fantasyland and no reality.

I think they are getting the fact that state does not release a full report with the state not during a full authospy which they did do that being said many people feel the investigation could have been handled better.

Wow, you guys. Treat the city Prince loved like shit. It's okay, Prince didn't love it there precisely because it was quiet and he was able to do shit like go to the store without being badgered. Or ride his bike around or whatever. But whatever, you all know better than he did about his home city. Carry on.

We are responding to the statements that were made by city officials. Why jump on us for commenting on greedy ass elected officials trying to squeeze out money from the estate when they did not give Prince the time of fucking day when he was alive.

Because you're being ridiculous. They weren't badgering Prince because they didn't need to be up his ass about anything. What did you expect, for them to be over at Paisley kissing his ass all day? They've got a city to run.

Unlike you, they obviously had better things to do with their time than worry about that man. And OBVIOUSLY Prince wasn't upset that they weren't all over him. He only stayed there some THIRTY DAMN YEARS.

They weren't 'squeezing money out of' Prince. Every business -- including Paisley Park, which is a business -- has to pay taxes to exist in a city. Get over it, your bad attitude is certainly not a good look.

--What on God's green earth are you talking about? If you took the time to read the article the city was going to charge the estate $14,000.00 for services but then decided to be nice and charge just $8,000.00. Municipalities don't have different fees depending on the wealth of the citizen that was a cash grab. I also do not think anyone had to have their head of his ass just be fucking respectful and not fucking fake. The City of Chanhaasen had expenses connected to his death.
The police, in the initial hours and then security of PP. They also put up and later removedthe concrete safety barricades to protect the crowds outside.
They were spending extra time due to the many contacts and stupid calls coming in.
A few months later, they helped restore the beaten-down area outside the fence.
They did traffic studies related to PP museum and things we don't know about.
$14,000 is NOT a lot of money to do all those things. Reducing it to $8,000 was nice of them.
.
It's a nice suburb but not the wealthiest in the area.

Maybe to you, but you need to remember that the rest of us wouldn't have ever heard of that place if it weren't for him. Not ever. Might be a nice little place but there's thousands just like it all over the country. The only thing that ever stood out about it was Prince. There's no denying that no matter how much it pisses you off.

And that matters how? Again I've never claimed there's anything special about Chanhassen. It's a nice little town like lots of nice little towns. A nice little town that Prince chose to call home for 30 fricking years.

Quite honestly other than calling Chanhassen residents shitty white people I didn't find any of the stuff in that article bothersome. All it told me is Prince didn't have much of a relationship with the city (because he probably didn't need to). I don't know what's particularly newsworthy about that.

It wasn't the city that wanted to put a water treatment plant on PP property it was some residents proposing it. Yes in a city of 23,000 there were probably some residents who weren't Prince fans and didn't care about PP. Nothing shocking about that.

Oh and btw, at the candlelight on 4/21 at 12AM the mayor was there and he was totally upfront/honest saying he never actually met Prince but his #1 goal was making sure Prince was able to maintain his privacy.

I'm with you rogifan. There's nothing in these emails but standard communication between government officials. The whole thing about asking the estate for $8k reimbursement was something one official asked about in an email but we don't even know if they actually did it. And the other "bothersome" stuff were ideas from couple random regular people, not actions that were actually taken by the city.
-
The idea that these emails prove prince was being treated "like shit" by the government and residents but he was somehow too dumb to realize it is just laughable. He could have lived literally anywhere on earth and I assume he chose to live there for reasons he was perfectly capable of making.

All of what? You accused prince of being either too dumb to recognize that he town he chose to live in for 30+ years was full of (and run by) "Phoney fake asses" and money-grubbing "assholes" or he didn't care that he was surrounded by people like that. (Oh that that you wish he had burned paisley park to the ground to spite the "vultures" in the chanhassan government). A pretty damning assessment from you about princes jusgment and choices. What do you caused his decision making to be so horrifically impaired for so many decades?

Your guess is completely wrong, as usual, but whatever. It's actually disrespectful to assume that they shouldn't ask for the estate to pay his fucking bills, whether it's $8,000 or $14,000. You don't know how much it cost them to provide the service, so get your damn nose out of their business and find some of your own. What are they supposed to do, tell the emts, coroner, and police, "Nope, we can't pay you. You can't feed your families becuse hey, it was Prince! You had the honor of being called out to deal with this emergency for free because it was Prince!" Wrong. You're all in a tizzy because a couple people (not even the city) didn't care that it was Prince's stuff. So what? It may come as a shock to you, sweetie, but Prince was not the most important person on the planet, and even he needed to pay for services rendered to him. And yeah, I did see that it was initially $14,000. Obviously, they reconsidered. And do you even know whether it actually did cost them that much, or did you even bother to look that shit up. I certainly didn't, because to be honest, I don't really care. I'm not looking for reasosn to shred people over shit that isn't even going to make an impact in my life. I have better things to do with my time.

I don't know what, exactly, you want from the city -- do you want them to turn themselves into a theme park or some shit, to exist solely for the purpose of entertaining fanatics like you to come over and disrupt their entire lives just so you can feel good?

The fuck are YOU on about.

I imagine myself inside your bedroom; oh, I imagine myself in your sky.

What are y'all up in arms about?

Yeah Prince and city officials didn't have much of a relationship, mostly because he was so reclusive. What is the mayor supposed to do, knock on Prince's door and demand he let him in for tea or something? How often was the mayor invited to Paisley events? Sounds like he wasn't, ever.

The same could be said for the Rock Hall of Fame. When I visited the museum, there was no Prince memorabilia on display. When I asked employees there why, they said because he refused to give or loan any. So again, what are they supposed to do? It takes two.

As for the email about rich white people, there's no excuse for that. Obviously Prince was the best thing Chan had going for it, but no need to insult all the other residents.

"Never let nasty stalkers disrespect you. They start shit, you finish it. Go down to their level, that's the only way they'll understand. You have to handle things yourself."

No one said they could not charge anything in fact city services should have set prices and they do not change based on the individual involved. The rest is you spouting utter nonsense and ignoring the bad test of the comments in the article. I am Nit paying any attention to your incoherent rant. I just posted it you will live and get over it.

--I guess you forgot that many city residents did not want the museum opened at all. I suspect that e-mail concerns the opposition that was building up at the time. Funny how some of you forgot about that.

I don't know when you were at the HOF, but I saw a display of Prince memorabilia when I visited in September.

Twin Cities and Chanhassen are not the same thing.

Well, I was speaking from the perspective of it being a former resident of the state of Minnesota. I do know that the two aren't the same thing.

You could also give this a rest yourself you know. But of course to keep going on with it will give you more to take to FB to repeat and bitch about it there right? wink

Many? Um no. I live here and can tell you most residents were not up in arms or against PP opening as a museum. Of course in a city of 23,000 not everyone is going to be a Prince fan.

Exactly. You'll always have the cranky older folks who will complain about the "additional traffic", parking and other nonsense. But the bottom line is any minor negatives are more than offset by the additional tourism revenue. Any time you bring a bunch of tourists to your town, it's fantastic for the local economy.

I was there in 2012, everything changed after his passing including the Rock Hall's access to his memorabilia.

You'r eonly upset because I don't agree that this shows any kind of disrespect towards Prince. But whatever, lil girl, keep being silly. You're funny to watch, at least.
