I know this is a morbid subject, but after my Mother passed, I started reading about death and the afterlife. Like you said, when a person knows they are leaving this earth, they sometimes see things that we can't and they talk to people & loved one's who have passed. I think when you body starts to shut-down, you enter another dimension.

This may be too deep for some folks here, but you can read about it. A lot of people have had near-death experiences. If you know Dave Gahan of Depeche Mode, he almost died from a cocaine/heroin overdose and what he described was very chilling. He said he saw his soul leaving his body.

I read you all comments and wish I had the answers for all of your questions and to stop the bleeding. But it's up to you all to find peace with reality in your own way. Please understand we all mourn differently and shouldn't be harsh to each other. Please learn and understand that nothing in life is guaranteed but death. Please understand that love ones will go in ways we don't want and can't stop. Learn that loving each person you know in your heart and soul love you for YOU like it's your last day is so critical as we never know anyones last day and sometimes the person don't know their last day. I'm not coming in a religious type way but stop looking for love from people that don't do nothing for you and start giving love to the ones who do care, and get your SOUL right. I don't know if it's a heaven or hell or the true creator of our human race but I do know we all have a soul and love/hate with understanding of right/wrong within our minds which creates the feelings and actions we do as humans. So mourn in your own way that's not damaging to yourself. Lets support each other much more than tore each other down and a little more thoughtful with our posts as we are all hurting from losing a loved artist/celebrity.
