EBay value of CD's I have a few cds I want to list on eBay and haven't really done it before. The items I want to sell haven't appeared on there from what I can find. I have both the Madhouse albums on CD but they are also still in the original long boxes. Does anyone remember the long boxes for cds that they used to have in record stores so they could be put with vinyl? How much should I list them for? I bought every thing prince ever recorded but now have to raise money for a flight to the U.K. What item tends to sell for the most?

Original Madhouse CDs in longboxes? Seriously...? Ask 4 the moon! Those are quite rare. Lots of fakes out there but originals go very high. Stand at the crossroads, and look, and ask for the ancient paths...(Jeremiah 6:16) www.ancientfaithradio.com

You should make quite a sum of cash for those since they are in their original packaging. I have both of those on cd too but I didn't buy them originally, I found them at used cd stores. Got them for a couple bucks a piece but the owners of the stores had no idea that they were related to Prince. And this was way before 4/21/16.

How about put them on eBay for $5 each by using the 'Buy It Now' option and then let me know as soon as u do...

Should I just start the listing at $20 a piece and see how it goes? I also have a 1st edition (all 16 tracks) of Goldnigga still sealed. Would that likely go for more than the longboxed Madhouse CD's?

This is a good thread. I'm sure there are lot's of older fans who have stuff from a few years back that might be quite rare now--and certainly out of reach of newer fans. I'm the same--I have near mint copies of the Peace CD single, The Vault book, Rave In2, Man O War etc. Probabaly won't part with them but curious to know how in demand they are now...

My suggestion is to just start the bidding on these...you'll get a good price because they're relatively rare (although not scarce). Ultimatelyy, they're worth is what people will pay...

Look up the UPC code on Discogs, and see what they're going for. Hell, sell them on Discogs rather than eBay. Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Seems like they go for around $100-150 these days, perhaps even more. Didn't check all the listings, but this website is a great resource for all record infos and prices: https://www.discogs.com/Madhouse-8/release/609944

Also this: late last year 2 copies of the first Madhouse CD in non-mint condition were sold on Discogs for 110 and 150: https://www.discogs.com/sell/history/609944 [Edited 5/6/17 20:48pm] [Edited 5/6/17 20:49pm]

Just remember that eBay will charge you 10% of your final selling price, plus a listing fee if you put it in more than one category. Discogs will only charge you 8% and listing is free. Put good quality photos and a proper description with cat numbers etc, sell worldwide and these will fly.

Then why start a thread on your own questions where you already know the answer to? So why would you sell it rather than hold on to it like a true Prince fan? I don't get it. Plz enlighten me... . I thought that. It's just a form of advertising. . I'm sure in the small print it says somewhere "this is a commercial presentation". .

The OP has already explained the reason for the sale (to fund a flight). Not everyone has the luxury of being able to sit on high value items. It doesn't alter their status as a fan. funkyshane, just be sure that it isn't something you'll regret.

If you're sure that you need to sell, try to establish their true value and set a realistic reserve. Search for the items on Ebay with the option to display completed listings selected (advanced>sold listings). You'll see how much they've sold for in the past. A copy of Gold Nigga from the NPG store in Camden (unsealed) achieved £189.99 in may – the average appears to be £100-£150. As I said, just be sure. I've sold rare items (not just Prince related) when I was broke or needed to fund studio gear in the past – I usually regretted it.

This is probably good advice.

Here's my advice, speaking as someone who sells the odd collectable when money's running low...
eBay (at least in the UK) do loads of weekend listing offers such as 50% off final value fees, so post it up for a week on a Sunday evening ideally, so that it ends the following Sunday (it's your best chance of getting as much as interest as possible near the ending time of the auction). Don't bother with a reserve - just think of the lowest amount you'd be happy for it to go for. These longbox Madhouse CDs are very much sought after, especially as there are so many counterfeit copies of both CDs knocking around.
A like new longbox version of 8 went for just under £55 in February - I would have expected it to go for more, to be honest, but some of that could be down to the ending day and time.
Also list it on Discogs, though items usually sell for less there than on eBay.

He might -- but I think he might regret not getting on that flight even more. Not that I have any idea why he needs to get to the UK, nor do I need to know, but I hpe he gets a good price for this stuff. Real life trumps possessions, even from someone whose music you adore.
I don't get these 'True Prince Fans' at all. They seem to place more value on items of Prince's than they do actually being able to live. Prince might have been a pack rat, but he could afford to be. Not everyone else can do that.
Sell the items, OP, and get to the UK. It's obviously important enough for you to sell these things. And remember, you can generally get that stuff back at some point, probably through Ebay if you can afford it at some point.
Good luck!
(Edited to make clear that thing about flights. LOL I need more coffee.) [Edited 5/7/17 9:21am] I imagine myself inside your bedroom; oh, I imagine myself in your sky.

Like he said, I would not put a reserve in, there's a market out there with collectors who will be desperate for these items. Put them on to end on a Sunday evening around 9pm and watch the market dictate their worth. Would it be better to to think of your buyers being in Europe or the US, I'm not sure which region would offer more...perhaps consider a 6pm end time in the US and therefore 11pm in the UK?

On a side now how much would a sealed version of Crystal Ball be worth?

On E-bay you can set a reserve price on your item and if the bidding doesn't go as high as the reserve price then you don't have to sell to the winning bidder and you can start a new auction. The truth is, I don't really want to sell anything, but have to sell something to raise funds. I have never sold anything like this on eBay so wanted to ask the question to people here that would know the answer. I have been collecting everything Prince recorded both on vinyl, and on CD. I have every album, single, and picture disk. I want to sell the bare minimum I have to hence as the cd long Box were so hard for me to find I thought they might be my best option, especially as I prefer to keep these on vinyl. However if it was better for me to sell something else and keep these I would do so. As the years have passed, just keeping all this stuff in boxes might not be the best thing to do. I much rather give value to the items I listen to regularly.

Start your auction at the very least you would be happy with. No reserve. Search ebay for the item. Make sure you note price and condition. Then check the sold box on the left column of the page. It will show you if any sold and for how much. Ebay takes 10% and 10% on shipping cost (fvf) as well. Pack well. Stuff gets crushed in the mail without bubble wrap etc. If you're new, they will hold your $$ for a period of time. Read the rules before you list. Brand new boogie without the hero.

Finally just listed them on eBay if anyone is interested.

Just be careful and hopefully you read all the listing rules, etc on Ebay. I'd hate to see you basically give them away due to an oversight or misunderstanding on your part or something. Good luck! It's a hurtful place, the world, in and of itself. We don't need to add to it. We all need one another. ~ PRN
