I'm surprised no one but the OP
mentioned FixUrLifeUP, which
seems to have gotten at least
some like here in the past
and was really
good in concert.

It's not bad, but it kind of drones on a bit (to me).

I love Fixurlifeup on the album and yep, it's better live Screwdriver (remix but edited down to about 3:54) Funknroll RIP

I can see that working alright. Good call on the Screwdriver editing as well. That remix is way better but then goes off on that strange tangent. I'd probably keep on Boytrouble in place of Tictactoe myself because i'm possibly the only person in the world who kinda likes it. [Edited 5/9/17 2:12am]

Well, you Hannah and Josh RIP

Adding FixUrLifeUp and Screwdriver certainly would have helped, along with the Reloaded versions of Let's Go Crazy, She's Always In My Hair and ICNTTPOYNM. Always cry 4 love, never cry 4 pain.

I love "White Caps" and "Another Love", which turned me on to Alice Smith. She is a really talented singer. Once in a while depending on my mood, I can listen to the whole album and enjoy it. [Edited 5/9/17 2:55am]

I said this after they performed it at the 2013 Billboard Awards. I know some would have complained about him re-using an 80's hit but it would have been a good selling point. And it's actually a decent version. .

Hang on, I confused Boytrouble with Stop This Train. Probably because Boy Trouble is so terrible that my brain had blocked it out. So it seems that you may be right, it's just you. I don't think even Hannah could really like that one. RIP

Think he wanted to seperate himself from calling it The Unexpected again. Wow at least never came out. i do like that little gem of a track though. Straight Jacket Funk Affair

I obviously dug AOA the most between the two, but I think this is a really interesting album. Definitely a different sound...I like it.
And also, if "TICTACTOE" was announced as a Prince & The Revolution track, folks would've lost their minds. Lol. IMO, that's a definition of an underrated song... In fact, it would be interesting to hear The Revolution play this song live...Somehow back to back with "Darling Nikki" because to me, the chord changes are similar... Why would The Revolution perform that song? It isn't their's... "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

The track itself was sounds like it was influenced by that era IMO..so it would be cool to see them do a vast array of material if the reunion continues. I hope it does. Also,I don't think it would be against the law for them to perform songs that weren't in the '78-86 timeline. Not trying to derail the thread, but that's the song that stuck out to me the most on "Plectrum Electrum". It's an awesome song IMO. [Edited 5/9/17 20:52pm] Exiles of the Nation

It happened before on "Planet Earth" when it was announced W + L worked on it, so without seeing the credits, people assumed they did vocals...but they only did instrumental parts.
That was one of the great aspects of Prince...He could make you hear things that you really didn't. Lol. Of course I knew it wasn't them on "TICTACTOE"...But some even mentioned it reminded them of W+L's later work. [Edited 5/9/17 21:18pm] Exiles of the Nation

To me, the most "W&L sounding" track on PlectrumElectrum was "White Caps." Which I really liked. Just my opinion, of course at the time. "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

Definitely another cool track. Yeah, I do remember people saying it sounded reminiscent of W L's 2008 album "White Flags Of Winter Chimneys". But overall 3rdEyeGirl did a great job with Prince. An underrated era IMO. [Edited 5/10/17 4:36am] Exiles of the Nation

Only ever listened to this record once - not cause the girls aren't talented just cause I found 3rd Eye Girl very straight ahead as a band. I know Prince liked the trio cause they created a space for his guitar and vocal to shine and while this may be true I never felt their groove - funk or rock. If you want this type of rock fusion give me Will Calhoun & Doug Wimbish, Sonny T & Michael Bland. When Prince challenged himself in this medium with higher calibre musicians he was spectacular ie "I LIke It There"!

I love Plectrum and AOA. These are the albums that got me back in the purple bubble after a hiatus that began in the late 90's. I actually liked Plectrum more initially, now AOA is slightly higher on my list. Anyway, Wow, PE, Aotherlove, Fixurlifeup, Funknroll, Marz, Whitecaps are all great tracks. But I'm part of the minority who liked 3rdeyegirl a lot and looked forward to more from them. It's a hurtful place, the world, in and of itself. We don't need to add to it. We all need one another. ~ PRN

The best thing about Plectrum Electrum is the cover art. With the exception of three songs, it's dreadful and best forgotten.
