I believe Amazon refunds the difference for already placed orders. Amazon refunds the difference when the item you ordered is released .

I think it's Jill Jones. Definitely not Prince. It has to be a female vocal on 'Our Destiny' because the lyric 'I don't want to have your baby' doesn't sound quite right if a man sings it.

So how does the sequencing of Electric Intercourse and Our Destiny/Roadhouse Garden sound back to back? Hundalasiliah!

That's definitely Lisa singing.

How is that sexist? A woman saying 'I don't want to have your baby' is telling a man she's not there to pander to his desires and future family plans. A man singing the same line would suggest he isn't prepared to take on her child/children. Would you rather that was what the line meant? As far as I know, men don't have babies. So Prince singing that he 'don't want to have your baby' would sound wrong, no?' Stop desperately looking for sexism when it clearly isn't there. Think before you post.

How does everyone feel about the sound quality with Our Destiny/Roadhouse? Sounds good to my ears I haven't heard the bootleg, so I have nothing to compare it to

Compared to the track before it on this new release, Electric Intercourse, you can hear the lesser fidelity on this one. Its not bad by any means, but it definitely sounds like its from a high gen tape as well as stiched together from two sources because the fidely between OD and RG are quite different in nature. I am enjoying these tracks though either way

Whoever is calling the shots with this project at WB does not have the required level of respect for Prince, his music, and specifically for this album. This is the pivotal Prince album. A pivotal album in the history of music period. This project should not be half-assed in any way. It should be perfect. Sourcing some of these songs from subpar copies, i.e. Our Destiny/Roadhouse Garden, is an absolute joke, and a slap in the face to Prince and his legacy. They should have released the project he submitted to them. The end. When the estate is settled, and the vault is able to be properly curated by an appropriate team of former Prince associates is when they should be putting out unreleased music. Who in the hell is sourcing some of this shit? T?! Richard Dower?! "That's when stars collide. When there's space for what u want, and ur heart is open wide."

^^^cutest of them all "Climb in my fur."

Well to be honest I love earbuds for their convenience but unless you got some high end ones - ain't nothin' is gonna sound pristine on those, nor will the frequency response on them be accurate enough to judge pristineness in the first place lol.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
It might not be 100% crystal clear in the way some people were expecting, but shit, it's not any worse than the sound of ATWIAD or something like "Little Red Corvette" and people love the hell out of those.

Then why does it sound great on them? That was my point. If it sounds good on them...
Tomorrow in the car will be the litmus test. "Climb in my fur."

Well not to sound too overly audio-elitist because I am really not knocking anyone or anything, but after owning a few pairs of decent quality studio headphones as well as decent monitors, nothing on earbuds sound that good lol. I love earbuds because of their compactness and their convienience, however when you look at earbuds they have: poor frequency response, and poor stereo imaging. So a lot of the frequencies that will reveal the flaws of the recording are not being transmitted in earbuds either well or at all to begin with. Same with car speakers. But even on my earbuds (I just tried now), I could discern the tape flaws of Our Destiny/RG. [Edited 5/11/17 21:22pm]

"High tech BS". I don't now man, I may be a music major and so this is my area of knowledge but there is no bullshitting going on here. But hey all I know is I am glad to have the magic of listening to music on something a bit better than earbuds, its a totally different world of immersion. No offense

So, I'm listening on Grado open backs. I'm curious, as some of you claim to be audiologists, what frequencies do you not hear? What is lacking to your ear? What are you hearing that tells you this was sourced from anything other than the master and not mixed this way? And just a little about me, I transcribe music every day for a living. So I have a good ear, but I'm looking to maybe learn something from you. Like a G flat major with an E in the Bass

Okay, while I'm amused at the ending comments about T and Richard Dower, I think we all need to realize that this might be what we have to look forward to for much of the vault material. We've all read the reports that Prince spent years neglecting the tapes, and while some employees encouraged conservation and preservation efforts, which Prince gave some attention to, we have no reason to believe that much progress was made, and certainly not everything was ever dealt with. So what's in the "Vault" (especially before he switched to working primarily at Paisley, or even later) might not be that great as far as quality at this point--assuming that much of what we want to hear was ever put there to begin with. There's a very real chance that some highly desired tracks are just plain gone, or that the best copies still in existence are those held by some collectors. Yes, I hope that Moonbeam Levels (and from reports OD/RG) is not indicative of what we can expect--but I wouldn't be at all surprised if it worked out that way.

I have never claimed to be an audiologist - just a music major who transcribes on a regular basis as well. Nor am I the be all end all expert, but to me I hear instances of noise reduction as well as wishy washy high end that is very consistent with sources that are of a higher generation. It could possibly be the masters but if so they have degraded massively. All I know is you can easily make out the difference in sonic qualities between OD and RG and the occasional dropouts that were present on the bootlegs as well which lead me to believe that they were not from the master tape
