Rumors have been going around for years that song was about her. I have always wondered if some one else was not the one getting abused and Prince was just putting himself in the song for shock value or to sing it from the point of view of the victim.

She was promoting her album in 88 so she is 28. She actually took this stuffed dinosaur with her to interviews and talked to it during the interviews.

I felt sorry for her back then and I still do. I think both she and Prince has a tough time growing up.

I agree, laurarichardson, I was kidding but clearly, something was going on there. I have always felt for Tyka- she's had a tough time of it, it seems. I am glad her ship has finally come in, so to speak , just sorry it had to happen by way of Prince passing.

I am sorry it had to happen that way as well. All I can do is think about what she said about how they both ran away from home once and no one came looking for them. We should not assume that she got along with Hayward and that a divorce and what appears to emotional neglect did not scare both of them with one turning to drugs and the streets and the other being obssessed with work to the point of neglecting his health and relationship.

Truman Capote said something to the effect of , "My brother and I were raised in the same household but he went out the back door and I went out the front." Reminds me a bit of this situation. People handle things differently.

well, now we know where P got his need for secrecy and also sometimes paranoia

Although I liked hearing them speak, I didn't find the interview as much informative. Lots of things said were already brought up through other means.

I find Prince and his father looked alike.

Didn't she say that in one of the podcast interviews she did a few years ago?

If I remember correctly, it was with a religious older sounding Black woman, but I don't know her name.

Tyka also mentioned that part about being from a house of secrets during that podcast and about lotsa alcohol consumption in the older ones (grandparents?), and about her drug issues and P taking her to rehab.

Um um um...Welllll...

I have noticed that he tends not to smile in the pictures I've seen, giving him a certain...quality about him...that under the right circumstances...and in the abscence of proper lighting...might come off with a touch a...creepy-esque-ness.

...but I was trying hard to be respectfull and not say it out loud...hoping it'd go away...but it didn't and now here we are.

God, I guess our parents can really fuck us up. That sucks.

Tkya wrote an e-book a few years ago about growing up and getting picked on for being light and overweigh having her on mother tell her she was too fat to be a singer and just feeling neglecting.

I did not get the e-book and it was withdrawn maybe she will put it out again after everything gets settled. Tyka did interviews to promote the book with one being on Youtube but I remember listening to a podcast that she did were she said they both ran away and no one came looking.

Well whatever folks want to say about his parents, Prince would not be the Prince we know today if they were any different. So I thank them.

She wrote about it in her book. She also confirmed the siblings fondness of tin foil over the windows.
