As a Canadian living in the USA, I could relate to Joni's songs and really enjoyed her Canadiana references in some of them .She is a painter first and you can see her paintings in a CBC interview on you tube .Again many of them ,to me,show her love for the Canadian landscape. Her songs also seem to paint a broad lanscape
I enjoyed this article... thanks Latin...I was happy to see that perhaps Prince had enjoyed some Joni before he passed

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

And there was the name check in the Dorothy Parker song. And because of that reference, Joni Mitchell's album Court & Spark is one of my favourites, and I love the wit of Dorothy Parker. Even read a few books about her. Oh and Clara Bow, but that a different song. Prince also offered Joni a song to record, I can't recall what song it was. I'm sure others would know. Grits and gravy, cheese eggs and jam...

I had been listening to Joni all Sunday morning. She considers herself a painter first and you can tell that in her music...she paints a story with words ...a lot of times there is no distinguishable chorus as in " Coyote" Her former lover Graham Nash consideres her a musical genius and even said she went to sleep at 10 in the morning and woke at 5 PM and started to create all night long ..sound familiar...and yes I do hear how Prince was influenced by her [Edited 5/16/17 7:09am]

Perfect pitch, and oh so clear voice. Her very visual lyrics too . I don't like everything he likes, but Joni Mitchell is a hit. I discovered her through him . What?

Joni's albums are like a soundtrack to a drama(movie) she paints a picture and you go on a ride... Prince definately took note

Morrissey: You mentioned somewhere that Prince had been introduced to you at the time of the "Hissing of Summer Lawns." http://jonimitchell.com/l...cfm?id=678
