Yes.

Let's go crazy and let's get these meds dispensed.

I was not expecting the studio version of Electric Intercourse to sound like the hot cheese B-Side from an alternate universe single release of International Lover, but man, what's not to love about that?

Of course I wish a nice official release of the concert with the version we all know and love was a part of this package, but hey, who doesn't. I can't knock this version of the song. I love it.

there is no demo for electric intercourse. only rehearsal and live.

also, this is pretty much on our own heads since we collected bootlegs and have
accustomed ourselves with those leaked versions for years or decades.

when these songs are finally released in whatever version, it's hardly anybody's
fault but our own if they are less spectacular than some 7th generation walkman
recorded rehearsal tape we've been listening to since 1991.

well, not less spectacular anyway, just different.

:yeahthat:

Which another reason Prince was against bootlegs (eventually if not at first) because it took away from his ability to repurpose or rerecord something and include on a new album without people saying...oh I preferred the old version. 1000 Hugs n Kisses springs to mind.

For example, my favourite version of We Can Funk is without doubt the one with Miko Weaver's guitar solo and yet here are multiple versions of that song so I would expect others to prefer other versions.

I couldn't agree more in terms of the version of WCF that ends with Miko Weaver's guitar solo, to me that is the definitive version, I don't care what anybody says...lol. So atmospheric, so funky, so raw and so much blues. If it was a ten minute version of that cut the PR deluxe would be worth it just for that. And yes I can dream. 😉

That´s my favorite version, too. I can´t even listen to the officially released version with George Clinton because I absolutely LOVE that version with the Miko Weaver solo at the end.

I think some orgers will be very disappointed when they hear the We Can Fuck version of that song when the Purple Rain Deluxe album is released because it doesn´t sound like the Miko version at all (but still great and much bettter than the GB version with George on vocals).

.

What version is that?! Am obviously not that hardcore as I've never heard that version???

Can you describe it to me further? Am assuming it's not got a crunching beat or a swirling Hammond organ in the background then? If not I suspect I'm going to be disappointed. 😉

While I'm as disappointed with the edits inclusion as a lot of orgers, I think this will be a fantastic release and we'll all be raving about it once it hits our ears. It'll be like the summer of '84 all over again - tops down, windows down, blasting Prince to the heavens. biggrin

I'm glad the edits are there.

I will give it time to breathe but after two listens it does not compare, for me, to the live version. Prefer it sung in his normal register vs the slightly yodeling falsetto and the melody seems lost a bit in the studio version. Certainly no Beautiful Ones. As always though happy to have anything new from Prince and I am sure it will grow on me. Looking for to the box set.
