But don't we all already have the songs that are on the Camille and original crystal ball album? Most of the songs were either released on the sign of the times album and 1998 crystal ball album

But to have them in cd/lp form with the fonts/album artwork/credits etc is a whole different experience

I still have to go through the release, but from the samples I listened to it seems a "frustrating jewel" release.

The jewel is that we finally have access to the entire Flesh sessions in absolutely pristine quality, and for someone who like the haunting part of Prince art is a dream made reality.

In my book this release goes directly on the top 5 list of all-time archive bootleg.

But.....

On the other side, there is an additional unnecessary rehash of same sound quality outtakes we already have from many years and this is the frustrating part..... why the choice to include them?!?!?

Honestly I'm starting to give up hopes that pristine quality version of "Crucial (FL)", "No Light In A Large Room" and "Joy In Repetition (Drum Intro)" will ever surface, I'm in doubt they are not actually circulating even in the inner circle, because it's really a shame that after so many years and many re-releases these are 3 of a short list of well-know outtakes we never had in updated sound quality.

Slow groove is ok but Groove in G Flat Minor is the bomb, best track imo The blue angel is soaring.

In the end it's all groovey

[Edited 5/3/17 17:29pm]

I've been totally hooked by Voodoo Who (aka Villanova Junction) (which I already knew) with the short Sade "Is it A Crime" reprise...

The Question Of U with this jazzy arrangement is stunning...

Slow Groove in G Major is stunning... It sounds like if Prince had in mind the melody of Frank Zappa "Watermelon In Easter Hay" (the studio version from Joe's Garage - one of those aerian guitar solo)

I was intrigued yesterday while relistening to the München after show that during a number, Zappa's "Purple Lagoon" seems to be quote on keyboard...

But the while my guitar gently groove in Flat Minor is also priceless...

The vinyl is actually legit. It was auctioned off by Karen Kratinger last year. (the most unique Prince vinyl, as far as I'm concerned)

.

The artwork is fan made, based on the writing of the names from the vinyl labels. The most likely "official" artwork is a colorful drawing with stick figures.

I'm loving this set! This is the music he should've went back to doing with Kirk, Mononeon and Adrian smh. This band is great too; Wendy Lisa Eric Levi and Sheila. Wendy is slightly out of her element with soloing but her touch is always appreciated.

'Damn' just blew my mind. It's nothing but a groove, but damn! Levi, Eric and Sheila were getting worked hard by a fired up Prince.

It's the only track not listed on PrinceVault, but it must be from the December 30, 1985 session. I wonder whether or not 'Damn' is the official title. With Prince shouting out "Damn!" throughout, I can imagine it was simply assigned that name by the bootlegger.

The song list with the yellow background is legit? I'd never seen that! That was supposed to be the back side of the album?

I notice the version of High Calonic that's been circulating for a few years is 18 seconds longer...
Is the speed off on one of them, is there an edit? I can't do a proper A/B comparison at the moment, anyone already have an answer for this?

Loving this set. Disappointed as everyone else that existing tracks are not an upgrade, but not really surprised.

Thanks to all involved with leaking the tracks that are new to us and all who are sharing this set online for free. This will make the wait until 6/23 go a bit smoother... wink

So... "Damn"?

Rehearsal? Basic tracks for "U Gotta Shake Something"?

Damn is definitely my favorite. It's a funky groove based around "I've got my mind made up" bass line. Eric Leeds said P and Sheila were drunk during this session lol

But who is playing guitar? According to Princevault Prince is on drums for Groove in G Flat Minor. I think Princevault is wrong on this one.

There are some jam sessions and one-take songs recorded around the same time included here, but also completed tracks.

There's a lot of soloing in the later sessions but the phrasing sounds like Prince. When he calls guitar solo on groove in C she just stays on the wah pedal and it doesn't go anywhere lol. But I love Wendy's fills regardless

Ok. Then we agree. She does some soloing on Junk Music too. But the solos om Slow Groove in G minor and on Groove in G Flat Minor is Prince I believe.

I was looking to see if I could separate the instrumental jazz tracks (i.e. The Flesh sessions) from the other material (they don't fit together very well).

.

So I'm looking through it all, but I can't find any reference to cd2 track3, Damn. Based on the talking during the track, it sounds like it is from the 5th of January 1986. Does anyone know more about the track?

All I know is it's by James White and the Blacks. Or maybe it's James Black and the Whites...

Anyone notice this , im sure its not just me.

"Groove In G Flat Minor" Sounds like a lot like the first and untitled Instrumental track from Small Club (8/19/88)

The keys and guitar riffs, and when the electric guitar full kicks in midway sound familiar
