Who's Judas -- Prince or us?

It seems to me there's so much tension brewing amid fans,"fams" and Prince -- at least what we think we know of him.

Years ago, "Am I black or white, am I straight or gay? ... Do I believe in God. Do I believe in me?" was sung about the speculation of Prince's detractors. Now, after a full quarter-century of amazing gifts to us, the very same could be sung about the speculations of those of us who supposedly support him. Just look at some of the discussion here. WTF?

I for one don't personally agree with a lot of what Prince has done/is doing -- and because I really cherish what he brings to the world, I don't mind unabashedly saying so -- but at what point did any one of us claim ownership of the man? Many of us act like he's somehow sold/is selling us out. Yet when I step back and look at what he faces from his "allies" alone, he can't marry whom he wants, sing what he wants, worship whom/what he wants, associate or disassociate with whom he wants, live where he wants, release an album when he wants, read the version of the Bible that he wants, take a rest when he wants or damn-near anything without 60 percent of us whining like sleepy, pissy toddlers about it.

I think well of my fellow orgers, but be glad I'm not Prince, because if I were, I'd honestly offer a sound finger to many of y'all.

I'm off to bed now. Bon soir.

Maybe I'm an asshole for saying this but I think that once you become famous you owe the public something. It's the price you pay for sucess.

Now I'll admit people do become obsessed with Prince. We feel like we own him ,But didn't he make us feel this way? Look at the opening track on For You " all of this and more is for you with love ,sincerity and deepest care my life with you I share". He's let us into his home and into his most private moments through his music. He gave himself to us,and we gave ourselves to him the first time we felt rather than heard his music.

Would a man who didn't want us to feel this way record Wherever U Go, Whatever U Do ? Would the new book be called POSSESED if the artist fan relationship wasn't so bold?
In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular.

Seems to me Prince is most definitely:

... marry(ing) whom he wants, sing(ing) what he wants, worship(ing) whom/what he wants, associate(ing) or disassociate(ing) with whom he wants, live(ing) where he wants, release(ing) an album when he wants, read(ing) the version of the Bible that he wants, take(ing) a rest when he wants or damn-near anything... IN SPITE OF an alleged 60 percent of us whining like sleepy, pissy toddlers about it...

At what point did Prince ever claim to be our nanny, babysitter, and parent or guardian, changin' our shi**y, pissy diapers?
Don't seem like he gives a flyin' f***, nor are his feathers ruffled by us, and I say, more power to him.

And as Handclapsfingasnapz said:
