Loved How Prince Could Turn A 4 MInute Song Into a 15 Minute Journey

Listening to the long version of "A Love Bizarre" right now, just one example of how he took a groove and just went on and on with it until he had explored 50 different aspects of it. Damn, the man could just keep a song going and going for days. And it would just keep surprising, damn thing would just go into one exciting direction or groove and then turn on a dime. Prince was a damn musical faucet.

I agree 100%. Romance 1600 was the first song I ever bought with my own money, and Dear Michaelangelo/A Love Bizarre/Toy Box were important teachers of how he used sound and space. But Bizarre was just so out there. I didn't know you could record and release a song that stretched out. I knew about Led Zeppelin's long songs and everybody knows about Hey Jude, but this was riveting. I know every single beat, note, word and scream in that song.

ya, prince ultimate is a must. even some hardcore fans like myself had never heard a couple of those. and, like i say, in those days, Prince would have b sides just as good as the a sides and he would have the better part of songs after the radio cuttoff. Kiss is a mindblower as a 12 inch, little red corvette, lets go crazy.
