If true, maybe that is why the family doesn't want to release the autopsy report. It might show an impaired liver which would in turn reveal long-term opioid use. If, as a JW, he could not seek treatment, would there be any recourse?

I've often thought that the JW's stood the most to lose when their faithful congregant P died without a will. Why didn't he provide an income stream, trust, massive gift while he was alive if he so believed in what they were doing? Why no evidence of multi-million dollar gifts? I know about some 50-100K things but come on, the guy was worth hundreds of millions. Such a gift would have funded lots of soul-saving. I think of this most when people go on about how 'charitable' P was...if so, then why not MAJOR bucks to the organization/people closest to his very soul?

1Sasha said: May I please ask this of those who have medical knowledge: if he was having trouble with his liver, would that require a liver transplant, some type of dialysis or similar treatment, or prescription drugs? Keeping in mind that he was a JW, certain medical procedures most of us would undergo would not even be on his radar. Thank you. Hi Sasha, Olivia was correct that most patients who have liver failure have a swollen abdomen. Other visible signs are jaundiced (yellow) skin and the whites of the eyes also turn yellow. Treatment in the earlier stages is dialysis, but eventually dialysis stops working and a transplant is necessary. Medication can't treat liver disease because the liver is the "filter" for the body. Once the "filter" is damaged medication can't fix it. Theoretically P could have had some liver damage, particularly if he'd been taking large doses of pain medication for many, many years. I wondered myself if he might has been suffering from some degree of liver damage. But if he was in full liver failure he'd have looked very different.

My mistake....my apologies for any confusion! This CNN article, http://www.cnn.com/2016/0...-witness/, does quote James Lundstrom (religious friend and fellow parishioner of Prince since 2002) who says he did attend an event at the JW Hall on March 23, 2017. This article, http://www.dailymail.co.u...side.html, includes the photo and identifies it as Prince attending a JW event in the summer of 2015. However, that still doesn't match the hair and physique. That's probably why I rarely reference the DM site. Anyway, info indicates he was still a JW at the time of his passing. The JWs were saying that hoping he had a will that left all his money to them. There is no way any other JW male would get away with wearing make-up, eyeliner, glyph's, ulilizing New Age Mysticism, The 3rd Eye, chakras, etc etc. Both you and I know it would never be tolerated by the elders of the JW Church if anyone else was doing this. I believe he was moving away from the JWs the past two years and was once again seeking answers through other means.

Long term use of pain pills can cause organ failure even for people with an Rx. If you go back to pics of Prince in the fall of 2015 he looks swollen in the face. If he had liver problems he would have to get off of these drugs ASAP and that might explain the sudden need to try and withdraw in the worst manner possible (cold turkey by weening )
Prince was last seen at the Kingdom Hall in late March and the JWs would not have had a service for him if he was not a member. I suspect he was not has hardcore as before or just to ill and trying to work (WTF) to make it to the meetings in the last weeks of his life.
We need to think that he may have has some underlying illness. 65k in medical expenses is a lot of money and the chefs have already said they were lied to about his health.

herb4 said: I haven't read the whole thread but someone a long time ago suggested the possibiliity that Prince was suffering from liver failure, which is a side effect of long term opioid abuse. That makes the most sense to me and would explain things like his sudden deterioration appearance wise, the "test results", the medical bills, etc. [Edited 5/7/17 6:57am] This is a very good possibility. Medication dependency over a long time causes physical problems.

Yes and yes. He actually had the "chipmunk cheeks" of his youth in 2014 as well during the U.K. Tour. He looked much different then, than he did in 2016. https://youtu.be/jhJWDtPL9Ew I believe liver issues is a very real possibility and could 'splain those medical bills. 😢 This would also explain Tyka and others who knew him well not being so surprised when getting the call that he had passed on. As an aside, it is possible that Prince carried a lot of needless shame for having these problems, and therefore didn't want many people too close to him. [Edited 5/8/17 4:59am]

He didnt so much MOVE away from the JW,s He Broadened his perception and became INCLUSIVE rather than exclusive
He was a seeker his whole life, The JW stint taught him that there is freedom in Disicpline,
He aligned himself with GOD to such an extent that he was able to Live the last few years of his life in a non sectarian way, that saw him becoming softer, more loving, kinder and more giving.
He found the Answer long ago John 13:34-3534 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

I do not think he went to Kingdom Hall with make up on and in his later years he was not that flamboyant. Remember everybody wears make up in Hollywood.
I know that one of the brothers said he always came to Kindgom Hall in a suit and tie and liked being called Brother Nelson or Roger so he was completly out of Prince mode on Sunday.

Is there a link from a good source that backs up that the JWs said they hoped he left them a lot of money? This does not seem likely to me. I believe they not only accepted, but embraced Prince exactly as he was. And I believe they love him to this day. That is what all the evidence shows me including the beautiful ceremony they gave him, the words of JWs after his passing and Prince's own words about how they said they had missed him when he had been in tour, there had been no judgment about him missing meetings. He appreciated that. I think he felt very loved and accepted there and took his commitments seriously til the end, even though he added in other beliefs to his personal spirituality. We begin with religion then open up to spirituality then taking all we have learned and experienced, we mature into religion again - but differently now. Everything ends again with religion. Very little wiggle room. He said this in one of his last interviews. I believe he was always grateful for his membership with the JWs. [Edited 5/8/17 6:05am]

I don't know if this has any relevance or not, but in 2013(?) there was a law that was passed in which all opiates containing acetaminophen had to put no more than 325 mg per pill of acetaminophen. Prior to that law being passed, there were as high as 825 mg of acetaminophen that could be manufactured(if not more) into one pill, be it Percocet, Lortab, etc.. This law was passed to lessen the damage to the liver of those needing to take these medications-hence the discontinuance of the actual pills thought to be Watson that contained the fentanyl. Those pills were discontinued for that reason, the level of acetaminophen was too high and no longer met the minimum allowance of 325 mg. My thoughts on this is if Prince was taking prescribed meds (possibly on and off during his career), that if he did suffer liver damage, it was for this reason, prior to the law being passed to reduce acetamenophen levels.
