"Come" the song....which is your preference? Original funky rumbling bass, spoken lyrics version or jazzy horns virtual cunnilingus album version?

As of right now...it's the only version I've ever heard. The "jazzy horns virtual cunnilingus album version." I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

I dislike all versions of this song. "Climb in my fur."

I like them all, but the Beutiful Experience Special version is my fave. Prince killed it in 93-94 almost as well as 86-86. He really mastered all styles of music at that point and proved it continuously.

Original version is so much better! Was so disappointed when the album version came out.

First heard it on DNA after-show boot in 93 and was blown away. The horns, the crowd chanting C-O-M-E, that's probably my favourite version. . Closely followed by 10,000 Wallpaper version that segues into sparser EndorphinMachine.

I heard it first on the Beautiful Experience and loved it. I've loved all variations of that early version and my favourite is the 10,000 wallpaper version. The album version is... different. I don't hate the album version but I don't seek it out very often. RIP

Is Prince the only artist to ever perform oral sex on tape? Lol. Another groundbreaking act against toxic masculinity. This whole album still sounds fresh twenty years later.

The album version. Especially the swell and the happy ending. The last 2 minutes. What?

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

It's plodding and very traditional sounding (traditional instrumentation etc). And like he had the groove on the back of his hand and decided to make a song out of it easily. "Climb in my fur."

The album version is the only one I know and its just so-so. Too long for starters. It's a hurtful place, the world, in and of itself. We don't need to add to it. We all need one another. ~ PRN

The Beautiful Experience version. I remember being extremely disappointed when I hit play on the Come CD and a completely different (and inferior) version started up. I've grown to love the album take too, but the TBE version remains my favourite.

Oh my damn! I like it really but shit...I'm a native Detroiter. Had Marvin Gaye (Jr. and/or Sr.) been breathing air then...there would be no question nor doubt about how Prince was murdered. I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

All versions of this song are great. Says a lot about the song and lyrics.

It's not his best song, but a good example of his more organic funk phase with horns. The only good version is the funk version, so the album version. Not a fan of the house influence on the other versions. . I love that the version stretches out a bit, although the fake eating out part is cringeworthy and has to be edited out before you can have any of your friends listen to it.
