Feel U Up-Long Stroke (b-side of Partyman)

I just ordered this and was wondering a few things:
(usually I would check this stuff on the NPGMC discography, but since it seems to have dissapeared, I'll let the experts answer my question!)

Is this an official single?
How much longer is it than The Hits version?
Is it a remix, extended version or a bit of both?
Finally, is it worth getting (I got it fairly cheap)?

Yeah, it was released as the B side of the 12" and was on the CD (here in UK).
It clocks in at 6m 28sec, whereas the 'Short Stroke' version is 3m 44sec. It's just an extended version, but DEFINATELY worth having!!!

I have both the 3" standard CD single W2814CD 759 921 330-2 as well as the 3" CD in the oictagonal shaped packaging - W281CDX 921341-2

Both of these have 'Partyman 'Video Mix'' (6'17") and 'Feel U Up (Long Stroke)' (6'30")
.

What about the Partyman Video Mix? How is that different to the album version?

Yes. It's really an "extended" version of the song. The first part is exactly like the album version, but it keeps going where the album version stops. There's a whole bit in there with Prince singing, "When I want sax, I call Candy [Dulfer] and it's Candy's big splash and her first sax solo on a Prince song. There's also some funny bit with Prince burning the hair off some woman, and he's got some evil cackling going on at the end of the song.

Yes! It's fabulous, longer jam with Prince doing some serious Funk towards the end and laughing it up Camille style! Really cool. Exactly like the video for Partyman.

You're going to love that single, it's one of my favorites, the Hexogonal version. Small, unique and rare, released back when the record companies used to do unique packaging and took slight chances.

How much you pay for it?

Ok, I have had enough. It's called "Fill U Up", not "Feel U Up". That is a different song than the b-side of "Partyman".
There's a rift out in space, and it could be the door, but you know I'm not sure.

What are you talking about? The song is FEEL U Up. (looks at 12") Feel U Up. (looks at cassette single) Feel U Up. (looks at 3" foldout) Feel U Up.

Still it's nice to know, when our bodies wear out, we can get another

No. The 3" CD of Partyman was issued in a standard square package. The card packaging is 3" square housed in plastic holder (not jewel case) labelled 'WEA 3 inch CD single'. It was subsequently (one week later, for promotional purposes) released in an octagonal shaped card package - no plastic holder. Both yellow with bat symbol. The octagonal packaging folds out with stills from the Batman film.

The 'Arms Of Orion' 3" CD came in the standard card packaging (again within plastic casing size labelled 'WEA 3" CD single', and again was subsequently issued in a different larger format one week later (size of 5" CD card package - but 3" CD still inside. Both purple - some of the latter contained stickers.) I have both of these too.

Feel U Up (long Stroke) is definitely worth it.
It isn't really an 'extended version' in the
truest sense of the word. A better description
would be a 'full length version' as the shorter
version found on 'The Hits/The B-Sides' is an
edit of this version.

This 'full length version' is the same one
that appeared on the unreleased 'Camille' album.

Feel U Up long stroke is madness!
however strangely,when i burn the track on2 a cd (ive tried 3 different compilatons i have made) . . .
the song stops at the end when P is singin "Let me fe..."
& i dont hear "let me feel u up" but the file is complete.
confuse
as4 Partyman video mix, yeah its the Xtended version.
& kicks the ass of the album version, just 4 the breakdown at 3:55 & that insane bass P is playing!!!
on the 9min PrincePortrait doco' he is sitting in the studio laying down this bassline on the track & its crazy 2 see him play, let alone hear it.
definately my favourite bass part Prince has played on record.

I used to have that happen to me on tracks occasionally on a (now) old HP external CD writer, for no reason sometimes it would trim off a couple of seconds. I think I downloaded some uptodate drivers and it fixed it more or less.

Cool, looks like I've made a good choice. You never know with singles and B-sides, sometimes they're just crappy techno mixes which give me the sh*ts! Thanks people.

Ok, I beleive that your copy says that, but I swear, I used to have a little cd maxi-single of Partyman, and the b-side was definitely listed as FILL U Up. Anybody know what I'm talking about, I'm not crazy am I? Well, I mean, I'm not THAT crazy, am I?
