Why hasn't an official pro-shot DVD of Prince: Piano And A Microphone been released?

It would be such a top-seller/gift for fans. Paisley Park wake up!

A year later. I thought for sure it would have been released by now. What a gift he left with us with that show. If only we could get our hands on it...

Im not sure about the PP shows, but the thing about these shows/tour, was that it was a low production show.
There were no cameras to film P performing for the big screens as there were none.
So I doubt any were filmed. neutral

So, lemme get this straight. In under a year of his death, still sorting out a no-will situation, johnny-come-lately wannabe heirs, massive real estate properties, assets, and 68 gold bars, and a dozen cars - and you want someone to sit and make a DVD so you have something to watch??? Mmm, ok.

The only lost opportunity is not understanding that there is no time frame for them, other than to monetize the estate (which is business, and the court told them to do that, too), and that we aren't owed anything. To release his last concert within a year of his death? That's really morbid, actually. Prince filmed everything, but has anyone noted that there were cameras at a show? Doesn't mean it was intended for release.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Why the aggression. The orger wasn't demanding it and it makes perfect sense to release something fans were gearing up to hopefully witness that year . It would be a testimony to where he was at at this juncture of his life.
From you tube we can see there were non commercial released CDs pressed
so there was professional processes going on for the project.

Whys it morbid. As you infer we don't own him so have the distance to simply enjoy his output. You also point out his heirs want to monetize his estate, well here's a chance. So yes I want a DvD. Out of everything they're doing this is probably the easiest thing to achieve. Prince would have already done most of the legwork. They're one step away from pressing send on a preprepared email.

Just because you read into what I've said, or put your own angst on it doesn't mean I'm rude. It could just be a reading comprehension problem on your end. shrug

By the way, dig around on YT. I happened across a full P&AM show pieced together by different fan videos. It's the first near-full length vid I've seen of it thus far.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

I kind of think that the album from the last show (which the man himself told us to expect) would be a more likely release documenting that tour. And it hasn't happened yet, so--yeah, don't hold your breath for a video release. And I wouldn't really expect one from this tour anyway. I mean, as far as flash and excitement--what would be added from the video, really? Probably just people talking about how he looked, healthwise.

I was at the Oracle performance and the camera's were rolling. Hard to believe they weren't recording.

The 2 shows at Paisley Park were professionally filmed by at least 2 cameras. They have showed footage from FREEURSELF from the 2nd show.

Did'nt Prince send out something on his IG about releasing the Atlanta show. No reason why this cannot be done.

We came close in Sydney, but Prince pulled out last minute.

Dainty had organised to record Prince in Sydney. “I set it all up and the day before I was told, ‘Prince doesn’t want to do it anymore,’” he says. “I’ve said it a thousand times since: if only we could have filmed that show, how valuable would a recording of that be?

Ha you're not exactly proving yourself not rude. The other is definitively being told off by you for making a simple statement. If you're not being rude then the" problem" doesn't sit with my comprehension but your expression.

I agree with you.
Did he announce beforehand why he would not be playing his guitar?

I would think the name "Piano and a Microphone" would be explanation enough.

Of course. That is an obvious answer. The reason for my question was to clarify something I thought I read months ago alluding to his not being physically able to play the guitar any longer.

You THOUGHT you read?!! Nice. Snark aside, he showed off a new guitar at his last party at Paisley Park, which was a few days before he transitioned.

He said that he wanted to concentrate on piano and get as proficient on it as he was on guitar.
