Isnt that what everyone told Prince - Stop it with the symbols, and stop using shorthand when you write words??

What happens if I dont use their full names?

BTW if P drafted the will and then no one witnessed the will and signature, it is void.

Prince chose to use the symbol as his name.

Mayte and Manuela have never asked you, or anyone, to refer to them with their initials and numbers that position their lives as having no meaning other than being Prince's first and second wives.

It's disrespectful. Period.

Why don't you just create militant.org? That way, you can boss people around to your heart's content.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I have a few questions about wills and how they might relate to this situation. (I’m the one a bit confused. Please help me out legal people.)

.

  1. In MN do you need a lawyer to write a will for it to be legal? As Militant said, P wrote a will while with Mani (no reason to doubt Mili), in that case did P hand write it himself? So, even if she agreed and signed it, would it still be legal even during the time they were married if it had to be written by an attorney and wasn’t because P wrote it himself?
  2. Is it possible that a hand written will had been found but deemed not legal, so rather than a huge media storm could they just declare no will found? Because in essence that would be true, if it’s not legal then its not a will.
  3. Could he have had a will at some point, even in the recent past then decided to make major changes to it (for whatever reasons), called his lawyer and asked that it be destroyed? In that case, would the lawyer have an obligation to come forward with that information since they were instructed to destroy it? I would think not but as you can see I would not pass Wills 101.
  4. Could he have written a will in another country and would that be valid? (Just throwing out ideas and questions? Anything is possible in Princeworld.) Do you have to write your will in the state you use as your permanent residence? Wasn’t the LLC created in CA? Could a will have been written in CA? What are the laws concerning will creation in CA vs MN?
  5. If an attorney is in possession of a will how does he/she know it is the ‘last’ and final wishes? Is there a statute of limitations concerning the time frame in which a lawyer has to come forward with a copy of a will? (If it was written 15 years ago, would the lawyer now be under no obligation to produce the document?)

.

In my (admittedly limited) experience, once you go through the process of writing a will, you just don’t rip it up when life changes happen and then have no will, you go through the process of updating it as events in your life change. .

.

I guess to me the excuse ‘he didn’t like contracts’ never made much sense to me. That is why I am wondering if there was could be technical / legal reason there is no will. Something might have been written but not legal, hence no will. There are so many questions and secrets surrounding his death.

.

Legally confused!

You dont need an attorney to write you will. Yes, you can hand write it but you must have two witnesses sign it and they must attest they saw you sign it. The witnesses cannot be a beneficiary of the will.
  2. Is it possible that a hand written will had been found but deemed not legal, so rather than a huge media storm could they just declare no will found? Because in essence that would be true, if it’s not legal then its not a will. The Estate has indicated in court filings that no will has been found and they have looked through every nook and cranny. They said Prince saved everything and they cannot locate one. If the Estate found an unsigned and/or not properly completed will they would have notified the Judge and then the Judge would rule on whether it was a valid will.
When you write a will for a client you give the original to the client and keep a copy for your files. In some states you are permitted to file a will with the Court after completion so there is a permanent record of a will. The Estate also filed paperwork at Court stating they had contacted all his prior attorneys to see if any prepared a will for him and all the attorneys stated they had not.
Yes, you can write a will in any country or any state.
  5. If an attorney is in possession of a will how does he/she know it is the ‘last’ and final wishes? Is there a statute of limitations concerning the time frame in which a lawyer has to come forward with a copy of a will? (If it was written 15 years ago, would the lawyer now be under no obligation to produce the document?) You wouldnt know if it was the last and final wishes of Prince but you must come forward and present the will to the Judge (if you know of the death and that the family cannot find a will) and then the Judge would determine if this was Prince's last will and testament and whether it was valid.

.

In my (admittedly limited) experience, once you go through the process of writing a will, you just don’t rip it up when life changes happen and then have no will, you go through the process of updating it as events in your life change. .

Then it would have been made when he was married to M2 if it was drafted in 2003/2004.

If he made M2 a benny it would not be valid as a divorce would revoke her as a benny.

[Edited 3/23/17 19:00pm]

Can we all drop this "M1" and "M2" bullshit, please? We're talking about real people, with real names. Use them.

Yes - there was a will made when he was with Manuela. He asked her to look after it, she didn't feel comfortable with that and gave it back to him, telling him that it needed to be looked after by lawyers. My understanding is that rather than drafting it with a lawyer in the first place, as most do, he literally wrote it up himself.

That's as much as I know on that subject.

Mayte had also mentioned that there had been a will whilst she was married to Prince, also.

So there's at least two wills that, at one time, existed.

but exist no more.

The first thing we have to do is seperate the term DRUGS and MEDICINE. Because that language is why prescription medicine deaths are never cared about for very long because they are ruled "Drug overdoses" or called that and when the public hears "DRUG OD" they dismiss the story quickly and nothing is ever done about the ongoing issue of Medicines that are more powerful and addictive being given to anyone and everyone and being able to be purchased over the net too.

When we seperate that we can talk about this death for real. PRINCE was not a drug addict, meaning coke heroin etc...if he was he never would have lived this long something woud have broken down in him, if what was said is true that he was doing this since the 80's he surely would have died in the 80's. I feel the more that time passes and I look at these photos that have been coming out from all eras and just look at the man circa 2013 with 3EG and then again looking at him 2 years later, people are in denial and wearing purple covered glasses by saying he looked alright or the same or just thin. HUGE difference between thin and frail, the difference is HEALTH and sickness. and i do feel he was ILL be it cancer possible we will never know, but I feel someone does know and he was trying to control it all but he could not do it.

maybe it was, but as a fan, i can't think of any time that Prince did anything like that. of course he always had his own quirky fashion sense but he was always cool as fuck, the bandana covering one eye, if i was an adult in 85 i would have thought he was an idiot but as a 16 year old, he was the coolest thing in the world.

No, the price Prince paid was death. Whoever sold/gave the illicit/falsely stamped pills is responsible for his death, if they can catch the person. Exactly what they would be charged with/ how much time they would serve..who knows. Like you said, Conrad Murray got off basically Scott free.

murray did a couple years and i'm sure his practice is done for, same with Elvis' doctor, he maybe unfairly was targetted. I say unfairly because dr. Nick wasn't the only doctor prescribing Elvis shit but he was the one they went after the most. It's a no brainer that someone supplied Prince with those drugs, Prince, being who he was, wouldn't be going around the city dealing with drug dealers first hand.

One other thing is interesting, I've spoken to two people on here who had premonitions about Prince dying at the age of 57, the first was about 7 years ago and I filed it away in my memory and thought of it sometime around the plane incident, i don't remember if it was Pre or post but i remember thinking of it. Maybe it was just fated to happen that way. Bruce Lee once told people he would die at 32, Elvis told people all the time that he wouldn't outlive the age his mother died at. Might sound silly but maybe premonitions and fate is real.

I didn't look it up, but is Murray still practicing? In regards to "unfairly targeted"..I know the Jacksons said Murray was the "fall guy"- if he is who you were referring to.

As far as the premonition/ I personally believe in that or fate as you say. Adorecream predicted this as well (if that's not who you're speaking of) and caught 10 kinds of hell for stating so

PRince probably had some kind of unofficial will during both his marriages. But afterwards he probably disposed of them. But put yourself in his shoes, he's got no kids, no wife, and a disparate group of family members, he probably didn't want to start thinking about what to put in his will.

I don't think he was murdered by an insider. I think his paranoia about doctors and maybe his religion both forced him to not get enough surgical care and be ashamed of drug usage for pain reasons. So, he hid whatever he was taking from anyone who could help him (exception possibly being KJ). At some point he started to get hooked and he turned to black market pills, and some dipshit (which even could have been him if he procured them online) obtained some bad shit.

Hell, maybe, he had an unofficial will in his position that wasn't drawn up by a lawyer and his family tossed it out (because the money all went to the JW's or something.) But I don't think he had an official will and I don't think he was killed for it.

Those that knew him said it was rather a Prince thing to do, was just wear or do something different. They cited other instances of that, too. I forget if it was Kim Berry, or a wardrobe person. But it was sometimes last summer, I believe.

maybe it was, but as a fan, i can't think of any time that Prince did anything like that. of course he always had his own quirky fashion sense but he was always cool as fuck, the bandana covering one eye, if i was an adult in 85 i would have thought he was an idiot but as a 16 year old, he was the coolest thing in the world.

This is the photo I was referencing:

The top he has on is on backwards, and he did that on purpose, because he hated it otherwise. That's why it's cut so harshly in the front. That's a cut for the back. And the article about this photo is on the Org somewhere, but the terms I used to search brought up a LOT of misc results.

ok, i'm not arguing with you, i never knew it is all. I wouldn't know the shirt was upside down or insided out or whatever from that pic, prince's clothes always had a prince slant to them.
