Bruno Mars' guitar at the Grammys

Anyone know anything about the guitar Bruno used at the Grammys? Was it one of Prince's own, or a replica? I've been curious about this since the broadcast.

Yes, it's one of the replicas they'll be selling at Paisley soon:

And Bruno looks fatty and ridiculous in those clothes.

I really wish all these people would leave Prince alone and not try to look/act/play like him. It won't work.

People should try to understand that trying to copy the looks of an artist is NOT paying tribute. It's degrading him to the level of a cartoon character.

Paying tribute to a real artist should also be far more than trying to copy the sound and playing the songs.

Real tribute to a real artist is digging deep and creating something they would've created.

True. These tributes have been prince-karaoke. Dressing up like the man? Came off as bad taste to me.

Yeah, he looked like a kid in a Halloween costume.

I think that impersonating Prince's looks for the tribute was in bad taste, but if there was anything good about it, it should have signalled the people in the audience how much other artists love Prince. They're willing to make themselve look like fools in order to express how much they're into Prince's stuff.

Looks like bruno borrowed p diddys holloween costume from a few years ago ... there are no real musicians in the industry right now .. thats why these tributes blow chunks so hard ... without a song written by 15 producers, auto tune, and more blips and bleeps than a moon mission, these "entertainer" come off like the pilled up kareoke hacks they really are

Friggin' A right!

.

I was dumbstruck by that part of the "tribute."

.

I do think the dude has talent though (haven't heard is most recent record, but I bought his first two), it just wasn't on display that night. If that was the first I'd seen/heard of Bruno Mars, I would probably never give him a second look.

.

And honestly, I think calling him "fatty" is a cheap shot!

I didn't say he has no talent. I said he (and everyone else) should quit trying to impersonate Prince because it won't work. I genuinely fear seeing a Prince biopic. It would take a helluva actor (and certainly not a lookalike) to pull it off. Not impossible, but it will be tough.

YES! But this is why good marketing of Prince's catalogue will expose his greatness to others.
.
We have the most popular female singer giving "live" concerts that are identical to each other, inflection by inflection.
.
We have Bieber. Sheeran (at least strums that guitar) and there's no life to the instrumental play from any artist.
.
As much as it would be frowned upon, putting some of P's lesser known music in commercials and films will gain the biggest exposure.

A P biopic should be from his perspective only and not show the main character.

Oh I know, I didn't mean to suggest you meant that! I was just agreeing with you on 'what a tribute should be' and expanded on my feelings. smile
