"Purple Rain" is sentimental and manipulatively cloying so it is my least favorite Prince album
closer.

"Sometimes it Snows in April" is my favorite. This is heightened since Nelson died in April.

Among the Best

Sometimes It Snows In April

Purple Rain

Gold

Partyup

Adore

Among the Worst

1, Orgasm (thematically it made sense to close Come but as a listenable song it is perhaps his worst)

2. Jack U Off - Decent but generic Prince of the era that had so many great songs.

3. Live 4 Love

4. Emancipation (especially for the title of a triple album!)

5.The Sacrifice of Victor

Worst

.

1. Orgasm (Just sex and guitar slashing)

3. Everybody loves me (This is controversial along with 4 as the albums have extra hidden tracks further on that are good)

4. Eye like funky music (See above, I will put in 2 more if you purists are not happy)

5. Get on the boat - It is pretty bad.

.

Extras if u don't accept 3 and 4

I mean, I know why he did it, but Vanity's "Vibrator" moaning over the "Private Joy" guitar feedback is just a bit much.

But it fits the mood of the album perfectly. This album is basically the soundtrack to a porn movie, so what better way to end an album called Come than with an orgasm?

How can you criticise PR for being sentimental and then say Sometimes It Snows is your favourite???

Whilst I agree that, on its own merits, Jack U Off is pretty unremarkable in comparison with some of the other music Prince was making at the time, I do think that it works brilliantly in the context of the album. The tonal shift achieved by following the dark and mysterious Annie Christian with a jaunty, comedic number like Jack U Off was a pretty cool idea, whether it worked or not (I respect your opinion in that regard). I suspect it was one of the multiple strategies Prince put into play on that album, precisely in order to generate controversy around it.

It's Gonna Be Lonely has to be among the best - if only for the metaphor.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.
