The very first and last songs you ever saw Prince perform?

You can give the dates and venues if you want (though you don't have to).

First: Stratus (Instrumental, Billy Cobham), IndigO2, 1st August 2007
Last: Girls & Boys, O2 21st Sept 2007

Your turn! smile

First here was "Jam of the Year," which isn't too exciting, but the last was "The Love We Make," which seems somehow a perfect parting gift, all things considered...

What a symbolic last song this must be to have seen...

First song was The Rainbow Children on the ONA tour. Last was Nothing Compares 2 U at one of the o2 gigs in 2007. Never thought that'd be my last Prince gig. Was so excited when he announced the Piano & Mic shows in the UK, only for them to get cancelled after that terrible mass shooting at that QOTSA gig in Paris.

First My Name Is Prince (Barcelona 93).
Last (an incredibly beautiful rendition of) Sometimes It Snows In April (Leeds 04; incidentally he also played my favourite ever version of Nothing Compares 2U, and if someone could help me track it I'd be forever grateful...)

If we're talking about concerts we attended, opposed to stuff on TV obviously, then:

"Erotic City" - 1988.Nov.06 Los Angeles, CA, USA Memorial Sports Arena

"Alphabet St." - 1988.Nov.06 Los Angeles, CA, USA โ€“ Memorial Sports Arena

Good topic.I'll christen the D&P and W2Aus tours on this thread:

1st - Thunder - D&P tour - June 21st 1992 - London

Last - Days of Wild - W2Aus - May 22nd 2012 - Syd (not the last song of the gig. In typical Prince fashion did a further encore after my last train left)

And I just realised, almost 20 years exactly between 1st and last

You're right I don't think there is... I know there's an orger who saw him in 1979 but I am not sure if they saw him in the later part of his career.

The third mention of 'Around The World In A Day' so far smile He also started one memorable aftershow in London (2007) with this song (I believe it was the only time he played it that Summer), which I didn't recognise at first because the sound that came on was so eerie and different from what we had heard at the other shows... It immediately set the tone to a very special night which I will never forget.

Yep, 14th September am. Was there, great night. Although technically the show opened with an instrumental of The Dance.

According to princevault.com that show was the very last time he performed it live!

Yes you are right, how could I forget! I guess my memory has been somewhat erased by that other 'dance' he had invited me for at the end of the show...
