Were the phone calls on the Cream maxi single scripted? For those who have the Cream maxi single, in between the remixes are phone calls made by Prince in disguise asking random people what they think of the song Cream.
One guy says that the song, or any song by Prince, is disruptive to youth and causes violence. Prince gets defensive and starts an argument then hangs up.
He rings one woman who says she loves the song, then Prince makes a joke and hangs up.
Even if the phone calls were scripted, they sound very real. Although I'm a bit iffy on the phone call with the guy who condemned Prince's work. | |

I think they were at least partially scripted, especially the one you're referring to where the man answering the phone has an immediate tirade about how he doesn't like anything Prince has ever done, the message is the same, sex sex sex, kids grow up desolate, despondent, etc. Funny but seemed very scripted to me.
