This "documentary" was really not all that. We've heard all of this info before. The part that I really did NOT like was when they mentioned that Duane's and Lorna's attorney said that Duane and Lorna told him that Prince had a cocaine problem. HLN did mention that Prince was estranged from Lorna before her death and that they both (Duane and Lorna) are deceased now. This information is highly suspect and should not have been mentioned. Prince's true fans know the story behind these 2 siblings of Prince, but the general public does not and may take what was presented in this "documentary" as gospel.

^Not only that^, but what 'attorney' gives an interview about what their deceased 'client' supposedly said. Hearsay.

They misrepresented this information to fit into an already weak storyline. Wrong of them to do it, and shame on them.

They never said, Duane said cocaine. They said he said it was Percocet. They never mentioned the word cocaine through the entire episode.

Yep I've seen that said many times here on the org, but that program didn't say that. I have no idea why.

Well Percocet is legal, cocaine is not. And though it's disappeared from YT there was one person who we all know was very close to Prince mention he knew he was taking pain meds.

I said that this whole affair has earmarks of a Black operation/smear campaign.

Everytime there is a positive Prince event there is a leak or some story in print to say he was a drug user although there is no evidence that he was.

Which is why I don't get why this is a sticky. It's just garbage. Not surprised that HLN would run it but the org shouldn't promote it.

How did they smear him? The person who is claiming that it's others smearing his name is the one person in this thread bringing up the cocaine rumor, a rumor that show did not mention. That's why I watched the show I've had enough of this type of stuff playing out repeatedly. There was no new information but it wasn't a smear campaign either. More smear has taken place in many other stickies than this one.

I wish the family would tell us the truth about his death so the anger about a Black operation smear campaign could either be put to some use or dissipate.

Not necessarily. The complete report was given to at least Tyka and maybe other siblings. Any one of them can sell the report. I think we true Prince fans will be able spot BS when we hear it, but that won't be the case with the general public.

I watched ....I believe Prince shouldn't have left the hospital early. Also I'm not surprised he weighed 115 pounds. That's actually pretty good for his size.I always thought he weight 115-120. Also,Pepe Willie came off a little bit jealous of Prince with saying stuff like Prince wasn't Prince anymore and that he was too far gone. What kind of mess is that?

On the HLN special, it restated earlier reports (by TMZ I think) that Prince left the hospital after 2-3 hours, but Judith Hill stated that he was in the hospital until late morning. This article (https://www.nytimes.com/2....html?_r=0), which we've all read, says that Prince wanted to leave the hospital, but Judith and Kirk talked him into staying, and that he was very cooperative. The plane left Moline at 10:57 am. So Prince was in the hospital for 8-9 hours. It's these little details that can leave the viewer with a false impression, that Prince was being a diva and left the hospital against the doctor's orders.

.

As for his weight, I think that although 115 lbs is on the low end of his ideal weight, that he normally weighed in the 130 - 139lbs range. For Prince, 15 - 20 lbs weight is significant, so all was not well with him.

Well maybe it was in a smear campaign but I still think it's garbage and not worthy of a sticky, especially when the drug related one is locked until after April 21. The mods had to know that's where this thread would go.

Yes, it was the attorney who put out the cocaine lie. The HLN special did say that the scumbag attorney said that Lorna told him Prince was using "illicit" drugs, which to me illicit means illegal drugs such as crack, coke, meth, heroin, etc., not Rx drugs. I think that HLN/CNN did not want to say cocaine, because they knew the source of the info was suspect.

What is an illicit drug?
Illicit drugs include illegal drugs (such as cannabis, opiates, and certain types of stimulants), pharmaceutical drugs (such as pain-killers and tranquillisers) when used for non-medical purposes, and other substances used inappropriately (such as inhalants).

It was even worse than tmz lol. That investigative journalist was high as a kite on something and the talking heads were obviously reading (poorly) off some script, things they had never really thought about. It was too dopey to be salacious, and it sure wasn't informative.

Illicit drugs are those that are illegal to make, sell, or use. They include:

  • cocaine
  • amphetamines
  • heroin
  • hallucinogens

What's nutty about it? I'm just agreeing with laurarichardson about where the cocaine story originated and pointing out that HLN came as close as they could to repeating that part without saying cocaine. I would be totally eek eek if Prince was on coke. I don't believe that he was.

I'm not speaking speaking for tmo1965, but imo..when people who watched this "documentary" and heard the talking head state that the scumbag attorney cited Lorna and Duane as stating that P was on Percocet, we all knew the back story from years ago where this same attorney stated it was cocaine that Lorna and Duane said P was on. So...you've got one story from years ago stating one thing and now they're citing the same attorney stating it was a different drug altogether, it's like get your shit straight if you're going to put that out there...which one was it? Cocaine or Percocet, Asshole??? (Talking about the attorney)...Hence the "smear campaign" take on this BS, unfounded story. Furthermore, while this was being said they showed a pic of P and Duane...in which Duane looked high as a phuecking kite! ...and P looked completely composed as always

Addicted or using these medications is not the point with me.

I personally know several people who are dependent on these meds. I know one that died from using a sinus medication with a pain med.

The point here is the fact that every time a big event or anniversary comes up with Prince someone with power decides to put something in the media just to remind you that he was using drugs to discredit his memory. This has happened EVERYTIME in the last 9 months.

The lead song off his last album was Baltimore which was an anthem against police brutality. How many songs has Prince written in this century against the system?

The fact he was found in a elevator should be ringing alarm bells because most ODs of this type were found in bed or in a relaxed position.

I am now of the opinion that these fentanyl laced pills were introduced surreptitiously and caused his appearence to change and then he knew that something was wrong and set upon correcting the problem and bam he's dead.
