Was Prince Hypocritical on the Subject of Marriage and Relationships

I don't know what to make of him on this subject. On one hand he actively recognizes his faithlessness and says "I am only monogamous with God", on the other he's singing about monogamy and talking about how he wants to be the only one and marriage. Does he simply not practice what he preaches? Does he not know what he believes? What do you guys think?

Yes, I think Prince was hypocritical on many of his positions. But that quote about being monogomous with God... what's the source for that quote?

I think it might be helpful not to simply quote P, but look at the date of the quote.

I think he wanted to be monogamous, but, being an imperfect human, he found it a struggle.

Not a unique struggle for many people, except P sruggled with millions watching his every move.

Vanity said, “I needed one person to love me, and he needed more." With regard to having more than one partner, Prince long seemed unable to rise above an old double standard. It seemed that he sought freedom but couldn't bear for partners to excercise freedom.

I think this double standard stinks. At the same time, most people struggle and mess up a lot in life. Prince chose rock stardom, but there must be a lot of misery to living in the glare of the public eye.

Looks like it's from a 1999 interview with Paper Magazine: http://www.papermag.com/p...72669.html

Did Vanity ever get married? It seems like once you're with Prince, you're ruined for all other men (Shelia, Mayte, Cat). I can't imagine how much of a degrade it must of been to commit yourself to someone you know couldn't measure up to Prince (the one you actually want to be with) if she did marry- sounds horrible, honestly. I feel really bad for her, now. Was she happy?

Yes, Vanity was married to Anthony Smith from 1995-95. At the time, he was a player for the Oakland Raiders.

Did Prince ever date Cat Glover? I know they did some sexy stuff on stage, but I haven't heard much of anything about them being romantically linked.

See Why Vanity’s Ex Husband Just Got Sentenced To 3 Life Terms In Prison

Posted On : January 26, 2016

fb vanity and husbandThe ex-husband of former Vanity 6 lead singer, Denise “Vanity” Matthews, Anthony Smith (48) was recently convicted of murdering three men in 1999 and 2001.

Anthony was convicted in a Lancaster, Ca. court last year for the 1999 murders and kidnapping of brothers/business owners, Kevin and Ricky Nettles, and the 2001 murder of Dennis Henderson. Smith might also be re-tried in a fourth murder case for the 2008 shooting death of Maurilio Ponce, a 31-year-old auto-mechanic. That particular 2012 Ponce case ended in a mistrial after the jury was deadlocked.

The Nettles brothers’ bodies were found with their heads wrapped in duct tape. Henderson was found stabbed and brutally beaten to death in the back of a rental car.
anthony smith2Aside from being Vanity’s ex-husband, Anthony may look familiar to you because he is the former star NFL defensive end for the Oakland Raiders (from 1991-1997). After parting ways with the Raiders in 1997, he signed with the Denver Broncos before suddenly walking away from that contract and retiring from the NFL altogether. That’s when life begin to spiral out of control for Anthony, and his friends and family say he had two personalities- a short tempered man who can be cold at times; and the 6’4″ 320 pound gentle giant with very polite manners.

It was during this time that Anthony and Vanity had a short marriage and an even shorter courtship. Word on the old school curb is that Vanity met Anthony, who is eight years her junior, and she actually proposed to him 3 DAYS later! Everything wasn’t all…
