Did Prince ever watch a hockey game live? Minnesota has a rich history of hockey with the Minnesota North Stars based in Bloomington only 13 miles away from Chanhassen. And later on into modern times with Minnesota Wild based in St. Paul. Did he even care for hockey or did he just watch basketball games? Did the Minnesota Wild organisation even pay any tribute to Prince after his death?

The Wild certainly paid tribute to Prince many times. Not only did they change their goal song to "Let's Go Crazy" (and with their success this sesason, we've been hearing it a lot, but the first game after Prince passed, they put together a light and sound tribute before the game and put out a tribute to him with the rally towels that the...at evening.
The Xcel Center where the Wild play gave Prince a custom Wild jersey before one of his shows there featuring the symbol in 2004. Between my love of that team and my love of Prince, I'd spend a lot of money to get myself one of those!
I'm not sure if he ever attended a game. The X is a great place to watch hockey and the fans make it one of the best atmospheres in the NHL.
I do know that Prince must have at least liked hockey jerseys. Here's a photo of him in a North Stars jersey. And he had NPG jerseys made up. I bought two when he held his Paisley Park garage sale back in the day. [Edited 1/25/17 15:23pm]

Well--hockey is an ICE thing, and if there were rinks and gear around I imagine that he was around some hockey too, and saw some live action, if not professional action. Haven't people seen the skates that were hanging on the basement wall in the Purple Rain movie? [Edited 1/27/17 19:34pm]

my my white people are sensitive. Sorry but there are things black people generally don't dig. Eddie Murphy said a couple years ago that you could tell the death hoaxes about him were false because they always had him doing something black people don't do like skiing. Does that mean no black person ever ski'd in the whole history of the planet? Of course not, it just means it just ain't something that you see everyday. No one called eddie an "ass" for saying that I don't think.
