Prince's favourite food is stewardesses

What were the other statements that flashed up on the videoscreen before the Diamonds and Pearls concert?

I can remember:

The yellow cloud will croon
Wendy and Lisa phone home
Come from memory
Don't come to the concert tonight
Diamond has legs

anyone remember any others?

Yeah I think so. I haven't got a copy handy. WTF was that "Don't come to the concert tonight" stuff about, some sort of injoke? Like, if you haven't got the right attitude don't bother turning up!

Prince and the NPG doing what they do best - funkin'
The funky new album by Prince and The NPG is coimng soon.
This is Carmen
Can you keep a secret?
Good, then keep reading.
This is our future.
She is the scariest female on the planet.
She is inevitable.
She is addictive and habit forming
Carmen.
To listen to her music on a loud system is to come a thousand times
Carmen - Paisley park Warner Brothers CD and cassette
Positivity
Yes
Have you had your plus sign today?
Pearl wants money.
Today is the first day of the rest of your life.
If you're so brave then kiss your enemy.
Damon can dance.
Live 4 Love.
Without love you don't live.
Mayte -= the newest member of The NPG
Violet the Organgrinder says the new album slams.
Diamond has got legs
Prince likes to hug
Michael B in the house.
We told you not to come to the concert.
Dance or die
Esther lives.
The greatest show on earth
Diamonds and Pearls

I believe the following are in the prince album notes, some of which duplicate the messages at the D & P concert:

have u had your "plus" sign 2 day
we told u not 2 come 2 the concert
if u're so brave then kiss ur enemy
don't buy the black album
the yellow cloud will croon
2 whomever it may concern: u must come to ur senses -
there r no kings on this earth, only princes
prince's favorite food is stewardesses
live 4 love without love u don't live
prince likes 2 hug
may u live 2 c the dawn
live 4 love
prince's mother's 1st name is mattie
today is the 1st day of the rest of ur life

Some of these may also have been broadcast at some of the concerts.

The Wendy and Lisa - phone home message rings a bell - but I thought that was simply a message issued on the official website before the first Celebration in 2000?

Did anyone hear the interview Prince did with Electrifying Mojo in 1986?
Mojo asked what his favoutite instrument was. Prince said something, but it wasn't clear what he was saying. Mojo thought he said "it's dirty", but come to think of it he could have said "stewardesses!"

Thanks! I guess that answers my question. I thought it was quite a cool prelude to the concert. Set up the concerts nicely.

I still think it's funny that Carmen was taken off as the opening act. I saw D+P tour 3 times and she never appeared.

Mmmm. Not if you were standing for 6 hours and the only entertainment was this same video clip and message booming out. It would have been effective if it had been shown for the last hour before he showed.

By the twentieth time of hearing the Carmen segment you got the message that she was inevitable, but I hardly considered her habit-forming! In fact by that stage, 'we told you not to come to the concert' was beginning to sound like good advice.

All would have been forgiven had it not been followed by the least enjoyable performance that I have seen Prince deliver, admittedly partly due to venue making it more enjoyable to watch him on a video screen. So now I can't listen to those messages without remembering a relatively disappointing concert experience.

Yeah, it's all personal. I thought the D+P tour was the best concert experience Prince delivered for me. Especially after being disappointed by the Nude Tour.

I remember all the messages being played over and over and over at manchester city football ground. They became very tedious after a few hours of it, good thing it was a lovely summer day and the crowd was in a fantastic mood. Then as time came for the show to start the messages stoped smile
The lights went down, the crowd stood up, and, the messages started again lol. The crowd went crazy BOOO GET THEM OFF. It was a joke, they stoped half way through and P and the band came onstage. What a show smile

I went to Earls Court so I only had about an hour of it. What with the dry ice circling the venue and advertising the symbol album with snippets of videos for the new songs the atmosphere was electric.

Couldn't agree more. I enjoyed it, but I struggled to at times. I thought his arrangement and performance of Thieves In the Temple / It with the guitar was very impressive, something which he's never reprised on another tour, I believe.

But it's always very personal - because it's sometimes down to where you are in the audience, which arsehole is singing off key and whooping in you ear during your favourite song, how much you really value Tony M's contribution (give me Tony M on the Nude tour to D & P tour every time), the setlist etc.. And it's relative because inevitably you compare to your other concerts. I know so many people who thought Lovesexy was a tremendous show, and whilst I thoroughly enjoyed it, it didn't compare to the 1986 show I saw.

Sounds good. The recordings of Earls Court that I have heard sound good.

At Earl's Court, the crowd sing along the responses to Sexy MF with the gusto they deserve. At Maine Road, everyone I was stood with was so very polite and English, they could only mumble 'You sexy muth uh uh uh" their voices distinctly trailing off!!! smile
