Prince music just dont hold up for long these days?

Theres loads of talk about wanting new prince music and wanting it NOW. we want it all at an incredible rate. Is this because he just isnt pulling the quality out these days? Is the music we get these days just not satisfying enough?

there are classic prince songs that we just dont get tired of but we are constantly looking for that beat or that line that will just floor us again. Its just not happening.

Well thats just one opinion. what do you all think???

hmm

No.The music is fine. It's attention spans that don't last long these days.

Essence

I think it's just accustomed greed with Prince fan's "Xpectation" being a new album every four months minimum.

I think he's been so prolific that it takes a while to sift through it all...it took me five years to really get to know the "Come" album, and I'm just now starting to appreciate the hidden gems on (yeah, I'll say it) NPS...when you get impatient for some new stuff, dig through the old stuff you thought you hated, and I bet you'd be surprised at the rediscoveries you'll make.

True, I'm still "discovering" TRC while ONA, ONA Live, Xpectation and CNote are already out there...

i think that one of my biggest desires for new music is that prince just isnt recognised the way he should be these days. i just want the song that will put him where he deserves to be.

i feel somewhat isolated in my passion and taste in music. i am sick of all this crap out there and want to see real musicians with real ability getting some recognition on the world stage, instead of brain numbing assholes who want to sell records to a market of 8-12yr olds who have more pocket money than sense.

You guys are right i should just be content with the prince music that there is cuz even prince music that can be classed as crap is of a higher standard than most songs in the main stream these days.

i reckon you could take a prince song that is considered crap and give it to, i dunno, westlife or ducking nsync, and it would be a chart topper straight away. Everyone is just on the bash prince bandwagon and arent willing to give him the respect he is due as a musician.

sorry for being cynical in my topic but i am seeing the light thanks to you guys.

cheers.

i still wanna hear what others think tho.

Hidden gems. I think this answers your question, he ain't pulling the quality anymore.

isn't this why SOTT is widely acclaimed as his best work?.I'm honest, everything in the 90's and beyond sucked compared to 86/7/8.

The quality is not there anymore, cause the hunger, drive and determination of the man is gone or proven, depending on your point of view. There's usually one song per album that is pure quality though.i'll always buy whatever he puts out.Good, bad or pure NPS! pooptoast
