Why cant they just release it so we can buy it. Fed up with these shenanigans. [Edited 1/20/17 14:42pm] I would do almost anything for all the Piano and Microphone shows.

or maybe he didnt cause he actually WAS a smart businessman ... . Yes, because bitching about bootleggers was muuuch more profitable. Meanwhile his heirs are scrambling to gather enough money to pay the upcoming taxes and the estate is locked up in a court fight, both caused by that "smart business man" not having a will and not having properly organised his affairs. . but now unfortunately things have changed and nothing would be smarter than releasing those live performances ... best move 4 hardcore fans as well as new once ... instead of more greatest hits compilations. . As has been explained COUNTLESS TIMES: nothing can happen until the estate is settled. WBR only released previously agreed upon product. . Again: blame Prince. yeah of course. blaming others 4 everything one personally doesnt like or just doesnt understand is ... smart. have fun with it. the only love there is is the love we make

Dude, when Prince died I remember people posting on here mentioning your username... not in complimentary terms either. So when I saw a tasteless comment in this thread, I scrolled up to check who the user was an yep it's that guy everyone said did nothing but post poor comments about Prince the whole time he was alive. Prince's heirs are not "scrambling for money" dude. Low quality posting. Nobody I know gun' bite

Prince's heirs are not "scrambling for money" dude. Low quality posting. They are not scrambling for money. Taxes can be paid installments and he had about 35 million in Real Estate, 15 mill in his corporations, owned his masters and publishing, countless trademarks, 1 million in gold and left an LLC. He had no mortgages or liens and very little bills unpaid. That is not leaving financial mess and he should have had a trust not a will. Keep in mind if he had a will and left anything to his older greedy nutball sibd they would sold everything off by now. Not having a will is at least allowing a court to oversee things for a little while. I also do not believe for one minute Prince was planning to die.

Who knows what he would have done if he had lived into his 70's. It did suprise me that he was planning an autobiography release and maybe this meant a new approach to old material. It didn't hurt his special live performer status that his concerts were not over saturated in the marketplace or Youtube. I actually loved him for his smart restraint...he turned down $3 mill from HBO for a televised concert. No REAL fan can deny the feeling of a Prince concert in the flesh.

I see this thread has turned left, but back to the topic at hand. The footage tonight was perfect quality. It is a great document of the Diamonds and Pearls tour. I would love to see the Glam Slam warm up show and Superbowl show at Paisley Park, both of which I was at. Tony, Damon, and Kirk were all in the house tonight.

Exactly...it was his choice. He was not nostalgic and rarely looked back. . 80+% of his concerts consisted of music he'd released in the mid-1980s. Most of his post-WBR releases were never performed live in any significant way. . I actually loved him for his smart restraint...he turned down $3 mill from HBO for a televised concert. No REAL fan can deny the feeling of a Prince concert in the flesh. . Meanwhile the likes of the Stones continue to rake in truckloads of money from both concerts and videos of those concerts. Springsteen's gigs are all over YouTube and TV and are widely bootlegged and yet he continues to draw massive crowds. © Bart Van Hemelen

They are obviously mini corporations at this point. Springsteen will tell you how brilliant a live performer Prince was. Prince was an independent revolutionary genius artist who viewed some contemporary music business model trends with disdain. He took a lot of chances and did things different. And you cannot deny the results of the Prince live experience. He challenged the audience and himself right up until the end with his Piano tour. We will get the videos in due time. In the end, we will appreciate his art and not how well he was able to monetize his music.

Exactly my feeling about all the unreleased footage. I'm so glad it was recorded, and I do think it'll be given to us in a somewhat appropriate timeline, perhaps a little behind what we want.

Good info. I had that D&P show on VHS. Pro shot but not great quality so I'd happily pay for this and others. I don't know all the legalities but surely this would be quick easy money for the estate to sell these shows.

He had value real estate and the commercial properties are not even being sold. The money in the corporations are real dollars and so was the gold. He was old school with low risk investments and if you cannot take the risk you should stick with what is safe. He liquid cash was low but high net worth individual are supposed to have low liquid cash. The only thing he did wrong was not have a trust however some of his money could have gone into a trust we just don't have access to that info. Also look on the inventory sheet prior to his death he did not have a a rack of outstanding bills or any mortgages that were due. Come back when you know what you are talking about. [Edited 1/22/17 6:34am] Good points. Bart would prefer him to be a gross sellout franchise Rockstar. He always maintained a true Punk attitude as it related to commerce. He could have easily sold out in a number of ways, but chose to be independent. And he always knew that he could get $$$ from a tour or residency. All his late era bandmembers have been quoted saying he was very generous in salary. He put a lot of his income back into his production costs. He donated to interesting charities. He lived on his own terms and because of that we prospered as fans.

I'm not sure why they wait until Thursday or Friday to announce what concert they will be showing. I'd like more time to get excited about it! I can't think of a concert I wouldn't want to see though. I'm hoping they will start to dig into the never before seen 80s stuff and The Piano and A Microphone shows from PP are at the top of my want to see list. TRUE BLUE

Same here. The perfect quality just takes the shows to another level. I was a little worried about all the older stuff being deteriorated after last weeks JOTY show, but there wasn't an issue with the D&P show. TRUE BLUE

i'd probably choose a show between 1986-1988 but - that Montreux 2013 - Show 3 is nice..

There should be enough live footage in the vault to start releasing it regularly (once the estate has been settled) but also keep exclusives screened at Paisley Park, to keep people going there.
They could screen a show at Paisley Park and then not release it to the public for a year or two. Or simply select a different show from that leg of the tour to be released. Then you know that you'll always get an exclusive concert at PP that will never be viewed by anyone who doesn't visit.

Glad they are being shown. Honestly it sounds like a smart move for Paisly Park, showing live never before seen concert footage may keep people going there.

Tastes are so different . I've been to nearly 60 Prince shows including the Montreux 2013 shows (and 2 SOTT shows) and the 3rd Montreux definitely shows does not rank in the top half of the shows I've seen. I also much prefered the first Montreux 2013 show to the 3rd. That the footage of these Montreux shows is awesome quality is another thing, but the 3rd Montreux show was kinda boring for me compared to most Prince shows I've been to. With a very special thank you to Tina: Is hammer already absolute, how much some people verändern...ICH hope is never so I will be! And if, then I hope that I would then have wen in my environment who joins me in the A....

21 nights
Those are some odd concert choices to show at PP. I´m not complaining and I think I´d like to see some of them in high quality but I wonder how and why they pick the concerts that they pick.
