I like this as an introductory compilation of songs for someone that wants to get into Prince! I've been trying to figure out one for ages.

No I didn't, it said 1999 - Parade, not "Songs on the albums 1999 to Parade, B sides should be included, I purpotentially avoided outtakes and boots.

Those songs are B sides and were flips to songs that were huge hits, so they are pretty mainstream.

That's a tight list!! So hard to not include all-time favorites like DMSR, Tambourine, Mountains (especially the extended version), She's Always in My Hair, Sometimes It Snows in April, and of course Purple Rain!! These were truly classic albums!!

either way, am I the only one who thinks that the quality of the songs in this era are so good that it almost doesn't even matter, they are pretty interchangeable. Except, for little Red corvette, I will always believe that song is a a song for the ages, the greatest pop song ever.

just watched a long susan rogers interview, interesting when she seems to say parade was the lesser album of the ones she was with him for, of course she says it great but she seems to think ATWIAD was better. I never thought so, it's got a few tracks that really don't seem great to me anyway. The Ladder, Tambourine, America all are second or even third tier prince tunes in my mind. Parade, unless you just hate the strings and arrangements was a more consistent album. Prince, for what it's worth, called ATWIAD his favorite in the Mojo interview.
