Absolutely phenomenal talk with Susan Rogers. Essential viewing!

Quite simply one of the most in depth views into Prince as musician you're ever going to hear. I can't quite express how fantastic this is. I've learnt more about Prince watching this than I have in the past 10 years.

I'll watch just cuz she might tell an interesting P fact but for some reason that I can't articulate, I've never cared for this particular woman. Dunno why but she strikes me as an opportunist. Just my perception.

confused wink cool

Please come back and give your opinion after viewing it, I'll be curious to hear if it's changed your mind on her. If it's interesting Prince facts and insights you're after then this is the interview for you.

On a side note. Why are they sitting in a Red Bull setting? What's the use for Red Bull in music anyway! I know they only want to sell their cans of sugar.

Sorry! I was in need of my vacation.

You all have great days!!!

Just curious, but where does this assertion come from? Susan Rogers is an opportunist? What makes you think she's an opportunist? I read quite a lot about her and if anything, she's the connsumate professional and could say much more than she has but when she speaks about her time with Prince (arguably the most creative output of his career), but always keeps it at a very professional level. It's annoying to see people say these things when there's absolutely no basis for it.

It's great that you posted it on this forum because it should be viewed by many. Last time it was posted here, it was moved to a forum that less people check out. Thanks for posting it.

At the 37:36 mark Susan says "I was just so excited to be there, and with every song, with one exception, with every song, I was always thinking, “This may be the greatest thing he’s ever done! This is the greatest – Wait til people hear this! This is great!"

.

Does anyone know what that one song is?

I did say "she strikes me as "...which means that when I've ever seen her speak I feel some type of way. The basis for this called "my personal feelings" that I get whenever I see her.

I didn't ask for anyone to co-sign my feelings but unless you're either Susan or one of her loved ones, I'm not sure why you're so annoyed cuz I have a personal opinion.

I never said that she kicked puppies or wasn't "pleasant".

I simply stated that I didn't care for her.

But thank you for solidifying my mild dislike for her into a stronger resolve.

I'll pass on this one. She might have some interesting fact but I'm no longer interested. Thanks for that.

M'kay, bye.

Had this audio playing in the car earlier in the month.

Good lecture and info. She's kind of hippy/scientist closet R&B fanatic if there is such a thing. There is! It's her.

ll wow I didn't mean to hurt your feelings. It's just odd that someone comes off as "opportunistic" for really no reason whatsoever. And my comment solidified your dislike of her even more? That's even stranger.

This interview is frigging phenomenal!!! She is in my opinion brilliant. In my opinion, likely a genius in her own right. I would kill to read a book by her about her time with P.

Is she going to be involved with the vault and output of his music? After hearing this, I strongly believe she should. She admired and adored him and his genius u can see it all through this.

I have a feeling it was "Dead On It". I remember reading somewhere that she thought while he was recording it that he didn't "get it" (referring to hip-hop and rap).

Yeah but wasn't "Dead On It" a spoof rap song? I don't think he was serious when he made it

In the middle of listening to it. Converted it to mp3 so I could listen to it while I worked and went around doing my daily chores. Wonderful insight into the work ethic of Prince back in the mid eighties. Don't know if he had the same work ethic at any other time in his life, but I think that just to hear about the way he used to work back when he was at the height of his creative powers is fascinating.

Susan Rogersis a great storyteller and she speaks honestly without gushing or even going so far as saying that everything he, or they did together, was great earth changing art. Some things were great, others not so much. Even when talking about lyrics, she hits the nail on the head.

Great interview.

Good catch PacMan I think you're right about that. I googled "susan rogers prince "dead on it"" and found that reference in a book where she was alienated by that song and didn't like it at all.

.

And while it may be a spoof, she apparently didn't take it as such.
